When I click on the shared link I am getting the error: "Unable to open (link) Cannot download the information you requested."  I can open it when I paste it into a new browser, but this is a nuisance for sharing with others.  Any suggestions?  I have already tried deleting and recreating the link to the folder and logging back in.

Hi @Environmental Learning Center, how are you today?

What version of MS Word are you using when you notice this?

Since the shared link works normally outside of the Office program, this would indicate that the issue doesn't lie with Dropbox itself, but the Word app preventing the shared links from opening properly.

Let me know more!

Is this an error from Dropbox or from your browser? Can you provide a screenshot of the exact message you're receiving?

So this is when Word is trying to open a link that you have embedded within a document. The link is fine as you said you're able to open it in a browser, so this would indicate that the problem doesn't lie with Dropbox, but with something in Office.

You might want to check out this topic about a similar issue. If it doesn't resolve the problem for you, I'd suggest asking for help on the Microsoft forums.

Thank you.  I think you cracked it.  It works when pasted into an email just fine, but not in Word (version 2019).

I'm having the same problem of the link not working. I've tried sharing the link via an email and also posting on a forum. Both places say "this link isn't quite right" and has a drawing of a cat. I'm just trying to share a viewable picture, not an editable one. What is the solution?

Hey @rmbted - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Can you please copy and paste the link on an incognito window of your web browser and let me know if you're still getting the same error?

If so, please send us a screenshot so that we can have a visual too.
