I can't join a shared folder, error: "We were unable to complete your request"

Hey,

 

i cant access a shared folder and even tried to do it on my phone with the dropbox app, but that also didnt work. Everytime I click on Join Folder it just says "We were unable to complete your request". So i dont know what  to do to solve this problem. Can you please help me?

Did the share it with edit rights or view only rights in the first place @frotierstds

I asked the person now to share the folder directly with my email now, if that helps..
