How do I sync all files to be local files, not online. And keep them local on an ongoing basis?

How do I sync all files to be local files, not online. And keep them local on an ongoing basis?

I have just bought a new laptop. It's a MacBook Air, running Sequoia 15.0.

I have not updated dropbox to the new app type, so my library is not in the new place and I'm not using the new app that seems to be causing issues.

On my old computer, dropbox would sync all files to my local drive so everything would be available offline. Now I have a cloud icon on all my files telling me that they can be downloaded. I don't want this. I want them to all be downloaded.

I could go through and find every folder and ask it to download them, but I don't want to miss stuff. I could try "selective sync," but I don't want selective - I want everything. In the past, I seem to remember that there used to be a simple setting that meant "download all files and keep them locally."

Please could someone let me know where that setting can be found?

Are you not able to right click on your Dropbox folder and select the option to make it available offline then @summerdown?

Hi there @summerdown - thanks for posting on our Community!

You should be able to adjust your sync settings through the app's preferences under the sync tab normally.

Let me know if that helps!

Hi Walter,

The sync tab does not seem to have a "sync all files" option. The choices in the tab are:

Selective sync (I clicked this and all folders were already ticked)

Dropbox folder update (I have not updated currently because I like picking where my folder is located)

Default sync state for new files (I have picked available offline - nothing changed because this is for "new" files, not current ones).

Dropbox folder location (currently set to a place I'm happy with).

Those are the only options I have in the sync tab. None of them seem to do what I want, which is to start syncing all files and make them all download to my computer.
