You can create a specific folder in your Dropbox account for the photos; and share that folder with your ex with view-only access.
also, you can generate a shared link for the folder or specific photos that you want to share with him.
This link can be accessed by anyone who has it, but it doesn't give access to your entire Dropbox account.
