Error when trying to share a folder with a specific email address

I have a dropbox shared folder set up and shared with a couple email addresses. I tried to share this to another email address and it keeps coming back with the error message: One or more names or email addresses you entered are invalid.

 

This email address does exist and I can send/receive emails with no issues. I tried removing the other user in case there was a share limit, same error. Tried creating a new shared folder, same error.

Are you sharing this folder with edit permissions with these users?

 

Is it possible that the email address in question is not associated with a Dropbox account?

Hey @Hannah thanks for getting back to me. Yes it ended up being the individual didn't set up a Dropbox account in order for the share to work! I did think there was a prompt when sharing to invite the recipient to Dropbox, all sorted now though thank you.
