Shared folder visible online but not on my Mac

Shared folder visible online but not on my Mac

Morning all,

Here is a thing I cannot seem to solve: for work I have a Dropbox folder that we work in as a team (Dropbox Business Plus). I have admin rights to this account. I also have a personal Dropbox account that I sync to my Mac and with which I am  logged in on the Dropbox app on my Mac. In the past I shared the collaborative folder from the work account with my personal account, so I can work in it on my Mac. It would show up as a shared folder in my Dropbox. This works, but the folder only shows up on Dropbox.com. Somehow it refuses to sync to my Mac. I have already tried leaving the folder, resharing and rejoining, quitting Dropbox, rebooting, etc.

Strangely enough what does happen is that in my user root folder on my Mac a version of the shared account pops up, but that version is not actually recognized by the Dropbox app as a Dropbox folder (no context menu, etc.). This version also does not stay sync with Dropbox.com.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Best wishes,

Maarten

Hi there, @MvanGageldonk, thanks for posting to our Community.

Can you please let us know the sync status and version of the Dropbox app on your macOS computer?

You can see this, by hovering over the Dropbox icon in your menu bar.

Also, can you please check your selective sync settings, in case you've somehow chosen not to sync the folder in question to your Dropbox folder?

Let me know what you find.

Hi Hannah,

Sure (and thanks for the quick reply): solved, it was selective sync. No idea how this folder got unticked, but ticking it again solved it.

Best wishes,

Maarten
