Won't stop indexing on Mac
I installed the mac dropbox update and the application began indexing my files. It has now been stuck for the last few days. I can only access some files. Many are now only available through dropbox....

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your patience while we investigated. We have confirmed that the problem with resyncing has been resolved with macOS Sonoma 14.1. Users should not experience a resync when upgrading to 14.1.
Upgrading to 14.1 will prevent resyncing, but it will not resolve this issue for users who have already become 'stuck' on the resync upon upgrading to 14.0. We can help, but we're asking that users contact support for individual assistance.
Regards,
Ben

Thanks for the additional info here, cloudres and elkcilb, have you had the time to check Samantha's post here, for more info?

I believe it's not "stuck syncing" as described in the post by Samantha because it has been indexing for over 48 hours now. I have tried restarting my computer.

i had to do a manual file-by-file clean up. Shared folders were split between devices and unevenly downloaded to primarily the device i DIDN'T have space to download them. Now that device won't sync at all (seems completely unable to do that... there is no option to download, to force a sync).
I've tried restarting dropbox.
I've tried installing/uninstalling dropbox.
It's to the point now where it will list the files/folders but will not download them. So.... cannot use the one device i need to use the most right now. I may have lost files – i don't even know. I am so angry. The one thing I thought I could depend on dropbox for is the one thing it is not doing. I realize this is the OS update that caused the problem, but wasn't somebody watching/testing?

Hello all,
I finally found success! Now my files are syncing and updating across all devices. To achieve this I logged out of my Dropbox account and logged back in. Next, the files began indexing and syncing automatically.
Where as before I had the "Indexing..." forever message, now I see the actual files syncing, indexing and updating.
I know the process was working correctly because files which had been edited and changed since I updated to Sonoma also were syncing. The process took all day yesterday. Some large video files took longer to update and sync.

Hey cloudres, that was actually for elkcilb, sorry if that wasn't clear in my reply.
And everyone who is still having this issue, have you tried reaching out to our support team, like Sam suggested?

Good morning Hannah, attempting contact via chat was the first thing I did. I was suggested exactly what I tried to do: a forced restart of DropBox by ending tasks and Finder, followed by a Mac reboot, and finally, a logout and login from my account.
I want to emphasize that in my case, I haven't attempted to resolve the issue with logout and login to avoid data loss, as others have complained about after taking this action.
That said, I would like to see the problem resolved proactively through an update to DropBox, rather than asking the paying users for potential workarounds.
From my perspective, Samantha's message is crystal clear. There's an issue, and we've got confirmation. Can we get more details, and as soon as possible? Is the DropBox team working on a patch?
I continue to wonder how it's possible that after months of Sonoma Beta, we're here patching a sync problem.
Thank you.

The version of Dropbox has been updated, and we are now at 184.4.6543 on Mac. I've tried to restart the synchronization by manually pausing it, but it seems like the file indexing hasn't resumed here.
