New Mac won't synchronize after transferring all files and apps from old computer

Hello,

I purchased a new Mac. This one has the same storage capacity as my previous one. I transferred all my files and applications from one Mac to the other.

I connected my new Mac to Dropbox but it doesn't work:

- I can't open files from my Dropbox

- I can't preview images on my Bridge applications

- I managed to open one Indesign file but all the links are missing

Could you tell me how to proceed?

Thank you

Hey misstheo1, thanks for reaching out to the Dropbox Community.

This is probably due to the fact that the Dropbox app and the files were transferred from your previous computer, but let's see what we can do.

Is the Dropbox application running on the new computer? What do you see when you hover over the Dropbox icon in your menu bar?

Also, what's your computer's OS version?

Let me know and we'll go from there.

Thank you for your prompt return.

When I hover over the dropbox icon in my menu bar it says: "Transfer of 16 files".  "Impossible to synchronise xx file" (no more space on your dropbox).

However, I have the impression I do have enough space on my dropbox.

      Thank you

Hmm, can you please check the plan tab in your account settings, to make sure you have enough Dropbox space?

Hi misstheo1, sorry to jump in here!

How did you transfer your files from one device to the other?

Also, one small clarification: you can see the files in your Dropbox folder, but you can't preview them or they haven't synced there at all?

      Hello Megan,

      Thank you for your message.

I didn't transfer the files from one computer to the other.

I thought that my new computer would just sync with dropbox.

I can see the files in my Dropbox folder, but I can't preview them in Bridge.

Additionally, when I want to open a file from Dropbox on my computer it doesn't work.

      Thanks for your help.

      Best

      Theodora

Hi misstheo1, thank you for clarifying!

Can you clarify the Dropbox version you're using on your end? Do you use the new macOS for File Provider?

Can you also send me a screenshot of the error -if any- you get when trying to open files directly from your Dropbox folder?
