Gnome 43 has removed

libnautilus-extension.so.1

making it impossible to install Dropbox on Fedora 37. Please update the rpm installer to make use of the changes in gnome 43.

For reference: https://ask.fedoraproject.org/t/official-dropbox-package-doesnt-install-in-fedora-37/27296

Here is a link to an open pull request to make the necessary changes: https://github.com/dropbox/nautilus-dropbox/pull/105

I just checked for the first time in a few days and found that there is a new entry for installing "Fedora 37 and higher" on the downloads page for linux. I will test it later. Maybe someone has tested it by now???

Hi!

I just installed the version "Fedora 37 and higher", and it worked. Now Dropbox is working again on Fedora 37!

Seems to be resolved.

Not via dnf update, but re-install? Is the repo up to date?

DON'T forget to reboot afterwards!

For me, by downloading the installer from Dropbox website : https://www.dropbox.com/install

Good note @dpawson. 😉

As always there are some stupid moves. Absolutely meaningless a completely new package created, instead of add the new plugin in the existing package. That's why just dnf update wouldn't work - there isn't anything to update. 🤦... The repo is up to date but the package itself is... old.

Even more: only RPM is provided, what about DEB?!!!

Currently the link that points to 64 bit rpm for fedora 37 is broken: 404

Any work in progress perhaps?

Broken URL given clicking the 64bit hyperlink:

https://www.dropbox.com/download?dl=packages/fedora/nautilus-dropbox-2022.12.05-1.fedora.x86_64.rpm

I was able to download going into compiling from source and then navigating here:

https://linux.dropbox.com/packages/fedora/nautilus-dropbox-2022.12.05-1.fedora.x86_64.rpm

Hi there,

We've spoken to our team, and they've told us that they're aware of a caching issue that causes that endpoint to return invalid 404 errors. They're currently working on a fix for this, but in the meantime, retrying the link should work.

We also recommend clearing your cache before retrying, as this can assist with some common errors.

Regards,

Emmet
