Guys, I've noticed a bug on Dropbox Client on Ubuntu 23.10 and the same occurs on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS after a installed it from scratch on my machine. It's really a bug on the app on desktop. The problem is: the app on system tray doesnt open or show anything until the system is blocked to block screen and returns putting password. After that it works normally as it should. I recorded a short video showing the problem with you: https://youtu.be/6a4cvtZsRWo How can this issue be solved? Is this the right place to report it? God bless you all!Solved10KViews6likes50CommentsWhy does Dropbox for MacBook keep 'removing' itself?
Hi, Myself and multiple users in my organisation have an issue where the Dropbox installed App on our MacBooks 'removes itself. By this, I mean, Dropbox will still be installed, we can navigate VIA finder, however we are suddenly unable to open the files. When we navigate to Dropbox on the menubar, the icon has been removed, but the space for it is still there, when clicking it, it pulls up the Dropbox pop up as normal. When we go to share files we are presented with the options that can be seen below. What we have to do is redownload the Dropbox installer and reinstall Dropbox. When the install is done, we dont need to do anything else, no resyncing files etc. It picks up where it left off.. Really weird. This is happening for people on different versions of MacBooks, different versions of Dropbox etc. Any advise?168Views0likes17CommentsHaving issues re-downloading the app on my Windows device. Error code: -1073741674.
Hi all, I am having trouble re-installing dropbox to my laptop running on Windows 11 Home. It started a few days ago after I quit the dropbox program, and cannot reopen it. I uninstalled it thinking reinstalling might solve the problem, but it doesn't. I have tried installing the full package, and also followed the "How to run an advanced re-install" step by step, and the same error message keep showing up. Here are some worthwhile anomalies I think may help those with better understand of the program When it was still installed originally after quitting, the task manager does have Dropbox and dropbox update in the tasks, but no interface of the dropbox program showed up. After trying to reinstall it, the error message will read "Installation failed with an unknown error (Error Code: -1073741674). See the link below for instructions to perform an advanced reinstall. The link brings me to a page that allows me to do a full download. This did not solve my issue. When I navigate to Apps, I will actually find the Dropbox program installed, only cannot be run and having the same issues as before. It has been a few days and support did escalate my case, but no one has contacted yet directly through email, so I'd figure I should open a discussion here. Any input will be helpful. I am installing Dropbox on a new Linux computer (Ubuntu 20.04, gnome-flashback). I ran ~/.dropbox-dist/dropboxd but it stopped without completing. The last line it printed was dropbox: load fq extension '/home/gershwin/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-218.4.4348/PyQt5.QtDBus.so It did not create a Dropbox folder. How can I complete the installation?22Views0likes1CommentmacOS background items and system files. Can I delete these?
On macOS Sequoia 15.3.1, Dropbox 217.4.4417 just made some install changes/updates, but it is not clear what. In System Settings/General/Login Items & Extensions, I have the Dropbox.app in Open at Login and Dropbox (with the blue logo) and Dropbox, Inc. (with no logo) in Allow in the Background. Can someone please advise the specific purpose of each of these different install items and if they can be removed if their purpose is not needed for my user requirements. Thank-you.149Views0likes8CommentsI'm getting an "Installation failed" error on my macOS 15.3.1 computer.
I'm trying to install Dropbox on a MacBookPro18,3 with MAC OS 15.3.1. If I run the Full Desktop I get this message. If I run the Offline installer once the password is enetered nothing else happens. The Install Dropbox screen just stays there. Dropbox had been installed, but the user has no recollection of it being uninstalled. The only remnant I could find is that Dropbox was listed in the Open at Login area, which I removed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.236Views1like19CommentsDropbox update pop-up keeps re-appearing on Windows 11
Help I'm losing my mind I now have 7 pop-ups asking me to install the latest update to Dropbox last month this happened I went to Dropbox/ download reinstalled the entire thing after I uninstalled it and while that solved the issue temporarily it's back again after a new update was released what it looks like is almost a virus but it's not I'll show you the installer screens and they appear to be issued by Dropbox I don't think you can fake that but I'm not 100% sure I have scanned for viruses just as an FYI but since there's no way to reach out to actual Dropbox and tell them that we're experiencing this bug on Windows PC specifically windows 11 its is requesting UAC I say yes ad it will popup again1.1KViews2likes22CommentsThe desktop app won't launch on Mac OS
I can no longer open the app on either of my two MacBooks (both running Sonoma 14.7.2), and my files are not syncing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled app on both several times and restarted devices to no avail. Icon no longer appears in the menu bar and clicking on icon in Lauchpad or Finder does nothing. Any and all advice appreciated!53Views0likes3CommentsDropbox client refuses to run on Windows 11 & re-installation failure
Dropbox auto-run on Windows Startup is always enabled but nothing runs. Manually clicking on dropbox.exe does nothing either: nothing running on taskbar nothing syncs, nothing running in file explorer (No "sync status icon" on explorer. Right-clicking on files does not show any dropbox-related menu. Trying to reinstall but the installer (both online and offline installers) won't even work. Running the installer "Dropbox 218.4.4348 Offline Installer.x64.exe" gives the error message: "Dropbox installer unable to extract application files" and then "error code: 535887868" Windows 11 is the latest update version. Dropbox usually works fine on this laptop but from time to time it behaves this bizarre frustrating way. This time it's stopped working for 2 days already and it is going to create a big file conflict problem if I can't sync this laptop with my desktop. Anyone, please help. Thank you!47Views0likes1Comment
