Having trouble opening the Dropbox desktop app on Windows 11

Having trouble opening the Dropbox desktop app on Windows 11

I started my computer this morning, and Dropbox app did not open. Got a message saying Dropbox not opening and I pressed a button to get it to open but nothing. The message repeated constantly.

I looked online and found something that said to uninstall Dropbox app and reinstall. I did this. But now there is no Dropbox app available on the desktop. I have to hunt for it hidden elsewhere. I was given no option where to store the app.

Before the app was in the 'show hidden icons' area where I could see if Dropbox was syncing but it not there now.

Also if I opened the File Explorer there would be a list of all my folders under a Dropbox main folder, but it is no longer there.

I use Dropbox to store Scrivener files for writing. It looks like I can access all of these Scrivener files but I don't know if it is syncing properly.

I also use it to keep my Obsidian vault and I can see all the stored files there. But I don't think that is syncing properly either.

As you can probably tell, I am not very tech aware, so I may have done something glaringly obvious. But I am hoping someone can advise.

I am using Windows 11 os if that matters at all.

Many thanks in advance for any possible suggestions!

Hey @HerbalTea - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Could you try installing the desktop app from this page directly after rebooting your computer and let me know how it goes?

If the issue persists, please send us a screenshot of your computer's taskbar so that we can have a visual too.

Thanks!
