Cannot establish a secure connection after dropbox update to 111.4.472
After the dropbox app (Window 10) updates itself to the latest 111.4.472 version, I'm getting this 'Cannot establish a secure connection'.
I've checked my time on my laptop, router. It's fine. I've disabled firewalls and the whole Eset Security. I've checked my ports. Everything is fine. I've turned off the proxy setting inside app. Scanned my system for viruses, nothing fount. The only solution is to revert back to the older version, but if I do so, the app will update itself so I'm at the beginning.
I've just received some news that I'd like to share with you all here!
It appears that ESET has fixed the problem that was causing this error.
For anyone running ESET on their device, please update to the most recent version of ESET to update to the software.
Once you've done this, you should be fine to revert back to the latest stable version of the Dropbox desktop app. You can install this from here.
Otherwise, you can just allow the app to auto-update to the latest stable when a new version is released.
Let me know how it goes!
- MousebladderHelpful | Level 5I too am having the exact same problem. I just downloaded the latest client on my pc and installed it again. Same problem. I have followed the troubleshooting: disabled all av, firewalls, checked internet is online. Phone works okay but computer won’t sync. I have two errors; Dropbox can’t connect using a secure connection, check date/time. I have done that and no issue there. I then get Dropbox is offline no internet connection error. I can ping various domains from cmd without issue. This has just started being an issue this week.

I have the same problem since the last update to 11.4.472.
You guys messed up the certificate that rolled out with the latest update and now you blame us.
My system hasn't changed in a while. No change in firewall or proxy. Dropbox just don't work anymore, since it can't connect anymore.
How can we get an updated version, since the internal update won't work, since we can't get a connection to the server?

Hello.
Since yesterday, my Dropbox refuses to sync. The message "Can't establish a secure internet connection" is displayed. I'm running Windows 10, with ESET antivirus. I tried disabling both ESET and Windows defender, as well as setting the proxy setting for Dropbox to No proxy. With no change.

Same here. Have done exactly the same and still does'nt work.

I can cofirm. It does not work with the current 111.4.472 version. Installing a previous version works for some miniutes, then auto update kicks in and it stops working after auto update.

Tried tinkering with everything. Seems my antivirus protection (ESET) has problems with Dropbox. Disabling the SSL protocol in ESET worked for me.
- gerygorenshteinExplorer | Level 4
Quick solution that does not involves installing beta client of Dropbox:
Go to ESET Antivirus settings (F5) advanced settings > web and email tab > SSL/TLS > disable "allow SSL/TLS protocol filtering setting" (the first one) > hit okay button.

Carissimi,
Grazei

Cannot establish a secure connection after dropbox update to 111.4.472Unistalled and installed again, same thing.- DaphneDropbox Staff
Thanks for all your posts here, happy to see you all helping out those new to the thread too!
If you haven't already, Francisgo, butnothing and ifigares, please try installing the latest beta version from here, to see if that does the trick.
If not, please let me know if you happen to be running ESET on your device too.
Herman66, Ik heb je bericht hier ook verplaatst, omdat je hetzelfde probleem ondervindt. Probeer de bètaversie van de app vanaf hier en laat me weten of dat helpt.
(@Herman66,I also moved your post here, as you're having the same issue. Please try the beta version of the app from here, and let me know if that helps.)
Donna7752, this will only take affect on the computer that's having the issue, it won't make any changes to the other devices.
As always, I'm here if you have any questions!

Hi,
after upgrade to Stable Build 111.4.472 Dropbox doesn't work anymore on my Windows 8.1 installation.
Error Message (in German): Es kann keine sicher Internetverbindung hergestellt werden -> A secure internet connection cannot be established
After installing the old Stable Build 110.4.458 Dropbox worked until the automatic update process again installed Stable Build 111.4.472.
On windows 10 I don't have problems with the new build.
I also tried to switch off firewall and virus scanner but unfortunately with no result.
Is it possible to stick with an older working version of Dropbox and to switch off automatic updating?
Thanks and kind regards,Gerhard Pachler

This is why a forced auto-update is a HORRIBLE idea. >:(
v111.4.472 Windows Desktop Client is obviously broken. - US8Helpful | Level 5
Hi,
After update to ver. 111 I have this error :
Can't establish secure connection. Make Sure the Date and Time of Your Computer Are Set Correctly.
I tried almost everything:
No proxy
Disable my eset and allow ports.
Checked and updateing my date and time even from microsoft servers (win 7.) and in Dropbox settings same time zone
One thing did the job "for now" is to install old ver. 100 from July. But it seems to update automatically.
Can Dropbox supoort please fix the problem with all new ver. ?
Thanks - tale88New member | Level 2
The time is the same everywhere, but it's still a mistak
- DaphneDropbox Staff
Hi tale88, I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with this!
Just to confirm, are you getting this error from the desktop app when it's trying to connect?
If so, please check out this article for some more info on the error.
Let me know how it goes!
- Sneaker42Helpful | Level 6
Yes I can confirm it is just the windows 10 desktop app v111.4.472 thats broken. I can still log into website, otherwise I couldn't post here, or?
The mentioned article doesn't help a bit. Firewall, proxy, system time all has been checked twice and it's fine.
