You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.
As an admin, I want to be able to easily see what folders a specific user belongs to. I'd love to be a be able to go to the "Members" page, click on a user, and then see a list of all the folders the...

I share my various folders and files with different people. I want to remove one person ("X") from all the folders and files that are shared with X.
Is there any menu I can go to to simply "Unshare all folders and files with X"? Or is my only option to go through every folder and file to check who it's shared with and remove X if it's shared with X?
Thanks!
- Mark7 years agoSuper User IIYou need to do it on a per folder basis I'm afraid. There isnt a way to remove one person from everything in one go.
- dharma7 years agoNew member | Level 2Oh man, ok that's gonna be a lot of work. Hopefully Dropbox can build this feature in down the line.
Many thanks for your help on this, much appreciated! - MrRogers837 years agoHelpful | Level 6Is this also true for Dropbox Enterprise?
- Walter7 years agoDropbox Staff
Yes, indeed MrRogers83.
If the person you'd like to remove from your shares is a part of your Team though, you'd be able to delete them from the team.
I hope this makes sense and let me know if you have any further questions please. Thanks.

Has this been fixed since this was posted? seems like a simple and very common need. thx!!
- Walter7 years agoDropbox Staff
Hey LearningLibrary - could you elaborate on what exactly would you like to accomplish so as to see what can be done for your case?
As this is not an option at this moment (as I mentioned above if you're an admin of a team you can remove them from the team completely).
Moreover, as we're always looking for user input regarding our website, I'll make sure to include your comments in my internal report to our development team.
If there's anything else I can do for you in the meantime, please let me know. Thank you!

I need this information, as well. Have you fixed things yet, so we can do this? It's necessary in a work environment when someone leaves for another job. I'll be spending hours deleting this one person from all our folders.
Please, dropbox, develop this feature that is truly a necessity.

Using dropbox.com in your account, go to the folder with the members, click on the members shown on the right. A box will pop-up showing the members and their permissions. There is a drop-down menu for each in which you can change to can edit, can view, make owner, or remove. It is one by one for each folder and member.

WalterI understand but I'm using Dropbox as a personal storage, not for business. So I don't need that plan. Are you saying just to get more control over my sharing settings I need to upgrade?
- IridiumDigital6 years agoExplorer | Level 4
I'd like to see this feature added as well. The feature could be a check box that would say something like, "Remove this user/email from all shared folders owned by this account holder."
This would make it easier than hunting through all shared folders to find out which they have access to and which they don't.
- russthebear6 years agoNew member | Level 2How do I remove a contact from multiple shared folders at once? I can't remember which folders they have access to.
- Jane6 years agoDropbox StaffHey russthebear, this feature isn’t currently available, however that would be a great idea indeed! I could see that this has already been submitted by other Community members as a feature request, so I’ve made sure to move your post under the relevant discussion. At the moment, you should review your Dropbox folder structure & remove the contact from the folders they should no longer access for each share separately. Please let me know here if I missed anything or just in case you have any additional questions & I’ll make sure to touch-base with you soon. Thanks for checking in with us & enjoy the rest of your day!

Hey Dropbox Team,
This request has been out there for what looks to me like more than a year -- with no progress made.
It seems like you’re dragging your feet so that this will eventually be added to the Business account package, and then you will try to make everybody who wants it upgrade their accounts.
There’s been a couple of people already say that they are their ditching Dropbox altogether as a result – I’m pretty close to that as well. This is my personal account, and I’ve used it actively to orchestrate a family reunion, plan a wedding, and even manage a bunch of playoff brackets with other weekend warriors I play with. And I’ve read all of the comments – so I know I’m not the only one who feels this way.
So don’t you think it might be prudent to reconsider making the change -- sooner rather than later – to the basic account? Because not only will I go elsewhere, but the small businesses I consult with are going to hear about how non-responsive you are on a daily basis.
Or are you determined to behave more and more like Microsoft every day?

Dear Dropbox,
There is a well-established need to be able to:
1. Identify every file that a particular person has access to
2. Have the option to remove a particular person from all files they have been given access to at one time
Why isn't Dropbox accommodating this request? Is there a problem?
Thanks

I literally joined this forum JUST to comment on this thread... I had a colleage leave my company who has access to over 30 folders and now I need to go folder by folder and search for his name. Please add this simple feature to DropBox!
