You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.
Will Dropbox Paper for web consider support offline mode for Dropbox Web just like google docs in the future?
- BraceyourselfExplorer | Level 4
there were mobile and desktop apps.
Apple notes is ugly, too simple and featureless.
OneNote is a data hog, ugly as hell, takes hours to sync, has too many customisations and is ugly as hell.
Evernote just seems like a joke I don't get. I don't understand why people are paying for it . I mean, use OneNote if you want a cumbersome eyesore...it's free.
Paper could use some improvements that I'm sure are on the way but I would definitely be happy to switch all my notes over as is...if it wasn't only available in browser.
The UX is great. It's soooo purrty to look at. You have nailed the font, It's so nice and clean to type with. Oh and those tables...oh, oh, oh and them code blocks. mmmmmm *nerdgasm*
Give me apps please!

Hey there Braceyourself - I hope this finds you well and sorry for the delayed response to your comment.
We try to collect and track all feedback requests to inform the ongoing development of Paper so I've put your request for a Paper app for desktops on our list - thank you for this feedback.
As per mobiles, you can download the Dropbox Paper app here:
- Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dropbox.paper
- iOS: http://appstore.com/dropbox-paper
I hope this helps to some extent and please let me know if you have any more suggestions or feedback.
Thanks!

Thx for responding to all these old questions, Walter. Some are so old, they may not be relevant anymore...like my observation about "yellow" in the UI (FYI - that thread is locked, so I cannot even reply there.)
I expect most people know about the mobile apps. I agree with Braceyourself that an independent-from-the-browser, fast, offline, data-sync'd, desktop app would help compete with Evernote/OneNote. But, as a SW developer, I know how crazy complex offline edits are to incorporate into a system designed to be always connected... so I'm not holding my breath for Dropbox to whip up an Electron app version of Paper... unless...
Questions for people wanting a desktop Paper app:
1) What unique things are you wanting that you believe makes a desktop app necessary? (for example: able to view all documents while offline)
2) If the desktop app sync'd all/some of your files, allowed editing only while connected, what would you say?
- WalterDropbox Staff
Thanks for the additional comments Tim42c - I'm leaving this thread open so other users can chime in and share their thoughts and suggestions on this!
If there's anything I can help with in the meantime, don't hesitate to let me know and I will be happy to assist in any way I can.
PS: Yes, I saw that thread was locked after replying to you there - it was a bit old to be honest, yet, I wanted you to know that there's always someone gathering feedback from all of our forums (or forum's sections - whichever you prefer) so thanks again for sharing your ideas with us Tim.

Is there any news about a possible release date for an offline feature availbale on MAC and PC ?
I know Dropbox is working on that, recently there was a Paper service disruption and they send me an apology mail saying:
"... we’re pursuing methods to mitigate the impact of disruptions, including a potential offline reading and editing mode, similar to what is available in our iOS and Android apps today. "
I'm using Paper more and more but becoming frustrated as all my content is availbale only online. Sometime I'm on the go or without connection and I do need to access my documents or take notes.
Possibly all the Paper documents should feed the usual Dropbox repository so becoming donwloaded on my PC.

Hey there @wmac - thanks for using Paper!
As we actively collect and track all feedback requests to inform ongoing development of Paper, I've gone ahead and put your request on our list.
If there's anything else I can help with in the meantime, please let me know. Thank you!
PS: I'm moving your post to the "Share an Idea" section for Paper so other users can find it and upvote it too

Yes, I too see Dropbox Paper as the best note taking application. OneNote by Microsoft is decent but being limited to only 3 series of folders is absurd. I am waiting in great anticipation for Dropbox Paper to be available for Windows 10, and not as a web-browser link. I am referring to an offline model similar to how it is on android and Dropbox itself is on all platforms.
I had to switch to OneNote simply because of the fact that it is available on all platforms in an application manner. I I prefer Paper greatly to OneNote but alas I must take notes even when there is no internet and not having individual applications, therefore having to use a browser is quite annoying, so I do not do it.
- LusilDropbox StaffHey marcusk! The dev team is working on implementing additional improvements, but we don’t have a timeline to share about this yet.In any case, I’ve added your comments to the previous request and passed it along to the team. If you have any other feedback for us, do let us know.Cheers!

It would be great to be able to use Paper offline on PC. It would be a deal breaker for me. Thanks
- WalterDropbox Staff
Hey there Juan R.3 - thanks for using Paper!
I wanted to also thank you for taking the time to share your desire to have offline access to your Paper docs. The Paper iOS and Android apps support offline access and editing, however, this is not possible on https://paper.dropbox.com/ currently.
As we’re tracking this and actively working on improving Paper, I’ve recorded this feedback for the team to inform the ongoing development of Paper.
Please let me know if you have any other feedback or questions and happy November!

I use Evernote all day, every day and Paper seems like it would be a great (possibly better) alternative. But I need a Mac version that can run offline (planes, client sites without internet access, etc.).

We can start from here:

https://github.com/anaqi/Dropbox-Paper-Desktop
But, an officially supported cross-platform client would be nice.

+1
I often end up with 6 or 7 tabs of Paper, and soon it's a whole browser window ... Wish it was just a separate app so I could CMD-TAB to switch between paper and other applications.
- davemHelpful | Level 5
No - this is the wrong approach.
Please make Paper use document standards (eg, Markdown or a variant), and let *me* dictate the tools I use for it offline. Make Paper documents appear in my Dropbox folder tree, not force me to have to use another system, and generate exports to get to my data.
I do not want *another* desktop application locking me into *another* proprietary system.
Do not reinvent Microsoft Word, Badly.

Please.
- JaneDropbox StaffI’ve moved our post here Martin, as our Share an Idea section is monitored by our higher-level technicians for future feature implementation. Hopefully other users will upvote it & it will get some more attention. :pushpin:At the moment, the Paper :iphone: apps for iOS and Android allows you to continue getting work done without an internet connection, though I’d happily pass your interest for this option to be made available for our website, too. Please don’t hesitate to get back in touch at any time in case you have more questions or you’d like to open up a Paper discussion. Happy sharing & I’m wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead!
