You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.
Does Dropbox offer a lifelong/lifetime storage? Other services do, but dropbox seems easier to use on a variety of Apple equipment. That said, I like the idea of a one-time payment, even if an expensive one. I'll check in again in a couple of months. If this option is still not available, I'm likely to use a different storage service--even though I'd prefer Dropbox because I'm used to it.

This is almost certain to never be developed - storage costs money and Dropbox has no other income to cover the costs of this. Apple has its hardware, Google has advertising revenue and Microsoft has its software fees..... they can therefore afford to do much more free - because you are paying in other ways.
