Make the most of summer with notification management

When you picture your summer, it’s an image of sun, good food, and maybe an ice cold drink. I’ll bet getting constant notifications does not come to mind! When you take time off, it’s important to switch off properly and make sure you're not getting constant Dropbox email notifications, otherwise you’re not really off at all!

We know that work doesn’t stop entirely just because the sun is out, but it is possible to separate your time a little more. Now is the perfect time to look at the number of notifications you’re getting throughout the day. Why not set a reminder to check them at specific times (with Paper to-dos), but switch off the notifications in general?

If you manage your Dropbox notifications on desktop:

Don’t worry, you don’t have to stop all notifications, you can pick and choose which notifications you'd like to receive.  To turn off Dropbox notifications you can select some but not all in your settings. To get in to the settings to do this, you just need to:

  1. Open your Dropbox desktop app preferences
  2. Click the Notifications tab
  3. Check or uncheck the boxes under Notify me about to choose which notifications you'll receive

If you want less notifications on iOS entirely

The Dropbox iOS app provides push notifications for your shared folder invitations, and when links are shared with you. To enable or disable these notifications:
  1. Open your device's Settings
  2. Select Notifications
  3. Select Dropbox

If you just want to turn off just the notifications about comments, you can do that too, so you stay updated on things like new files and folders but you can join the comments and conversation when you decide.

Do you change your notification settings when you’re on vacation?
