Why am I seeing guests accessing my Dropbox Paper document?

Hi there,

I'm a big fan of Dropbox Paper and been using it for a long while. 2 questions:

  1. Is this product still being developed, or will it be sunset at some point?
  2. On my Dropbox paper document, I see several badges of many guest users viewed it at the top right corner, although the document is totally private and not shared with anyone. Should I be worried? I access the Dropbox Paper documents mainly through my laptop and sometimes from my iPhone; both are logged into my Dropbox account.

Seeing guest badges on your Dropbox Paper document, even if private and not shared, can be concerning. This might occur if you have inadvertently shared the document or if it is part of a shared folder to which others have access. It's important to check the sharing settings of your document to ensure that it remains private. You can do this by clicking the "Invite" button at the top of the document and reviewing the permissions set for any shared links or folder memberships.

As for your first question, Dropbox Paper is still being developed, and there are no current indications that it will be sunset. It continues to receive updates and improvements. If you're managing documents related to real estate projects in areas like Capital Smart City, ensuring the privacy and security of your documents is crucial. Always verify your sharing settings to maintain confidentiality.

Hi Waseem N, thanks for messaging the Community!

Currently, Dropbox Paper is still a part of the Dropbox features that we offer, and as of yet there is no word of it being sunset.

Regarding your second question, have you ever accessed the Paper doc while not signed into your Dropbox account?

This will help me to assist further!

    Hey Jay,

    Appreciate the prompt respone.

Thanks for the update- great to hear Dropbox Paper is still on the roadmap.

Regarding your question - I don't think I can even access the paper doc without logging in, is it? But anyways the only 2 devices that have access to Paper is my laptop and iPhone. Here's a screenshot of what I see.

It is possible to access Paper docs without being logged in, since the link is essentially acts like a Dropbox shared link.

Could you try opening the doc while in an incognito browser window, while not logged into any account?

Hey, yes, I was successful in doing so. That's what I see now on the original document. But I never access from incognito so I'm wondering who are those guests

      Hey Waseem N, happy Monday!

Perhaps other users that have access to the Paper doc, have accessed it while not being logged in; is it possible for you to check with them about this?

    Hi Hanna,

I have never given any access to any of my paper docs.

Can you please check from your side if any of my docs are shared with others?

We don't have access to this info through the Community, for security reasons, Waseem N.

If no one else has access to the doc, the only explanation this can have, is if you opened the Paper doc from its link while not signed in to your Dropbox.
