How can I turn the sound off on notifications?
How do I silence the sound for syncing notifications?
You can actually go to Settings, Select Notifications & Actions and then scroll down where the Dropbox icon is shown and turn off the noticiation settings (Banners and Sounds)
You can actually click on it and select what you want to have with Notifications

"Would that turn off notifications for things though other than my Dropbox?"
I just tried this, and you can turn off the sound just for Dropbox notifications if you like:
From the Action Centre, click "All Settings" --> "System" --> "Notifications & Actions"
Scroll down until you see Dropbox, click on it and turn off "Play a Sound when a notification arrives". :D- theleaf8 years agoNew member | Level 2Bless you!! that was so annoying.

Laura, did you click on the word 'Dropbox'? That gets me three slider options.
Notifications. on/off
Show notification banners. On/off
Play a sound when a notification arrives. On/off

I am wondering this as well. I still want to see the notification, but I want to turn it's sound off without muting my computer.

http://www.howtogeek.com/219703/how-to-disable-notification-sounds-in-windows-10/
I went into Windows Sounds and located the "Notification" sound, then turned it to none

Any answer? The new settings are f...ing annoying

I used Yvonne C's method, but on my computer, it didn't work exactly as she wrote:
I clicked Settings - System - Notifications & Actions, and scrolled down to 'Dropbox', en there, I could set all notifications to 'on' or 'off'. So it's the same as the setting in the Dropbox app itself: no sound means no notifications at all....
I want a notification, but not sound! Please, Dropbox-developers, help us out!

On Windows 10 you can go to Notifications & Actions (type it in the search field in at the Start button). Scroll down to Dropbox and click on it. You can then turn off the sound and leave the other type notification on.

This does not work. I've followed your instructions to the tee and Windows 10 still plays the chime when files are changed/synced. Here's a screenshot showing both dropboxes are disabled. But I still hear that stupid chime.

I found YvoneC's method to be just what I wanted. ALL dropbox notifications off! The sound for annoying reasons. The BIG Bar that floats across my lower right screen off because otherwise it blocks me seeing things I'm actually trying to work on whether I'm on dropbox or not.
However will "off" also stop me seeing the LITTLE icon that shows info about different versions of a document that I've deliberately opened IN DROPBOX?
The official D'box instructions to right click the Tray Icon does not produce the "preferences" option -which would be easier if it was true!

Go to Settings >System > Notifications & Actions, scrolled down and clicked the 'Dropbox' icon, then set “Play a sound when notification arrives” to “Off”

Windows 10:
From Windows icon (bottom left screen or Window key on keyboard):
Select "Settings" -- right above "Power"
Select "System"
Select "Notifications & Actions"
Scroll down to Dropbox and turn it off.
