Dropbox unstable in iPad OS Files App.
The problem I have is that Dropbox seems to crash when running on an iPAD via the apple files app. If I open an application that uses the files app, such as Pages or Final Draft, when saving to the D...

We recently upgraded the syncing experience between the Files and Dropbox and it should be more reliable now. Ensure that your Dropbox app is upgraded to receive the full benefits of this experience!

Have uninstalled and reinstalled both Dropbox and files app.
I have emptied cache on Dropbox app
i have enough free memory on ipad
i have turned iPad on and off
i have spoken to apple who say the problem is with Dropbox app
i have chatted with Dropbox person who asked for screenshots but couldn’t say what to do further.
It makes my work almost impossible.
I’m clearly not the only one experiencing this. Have you found a solve for this or do i need to stop using Dropbox?

Last time I checked I also still had the same issue.
But this is not the only problem:
When I copy f.e. some pictures in the Files app to the Dropbox folder, it only uploads some of them and generally seems to mess up a lot of things, creating duplicates, hanging on error messages. A total mess! Almost impossible to fix afterwards, as it starts reuploading some of the photos even after I canceled everything and deleted the folder.
The only solution right now is to use OneDrive or similar.

Hey AM1981, thanks for the update.
Can we actually send you an email, so we can look into this internally?
As for you superuser, I'm sorry to see you're also having issues.
The issues you mentioned, do you experience them only when using the Dropbox mobile app on your iPad?
And what kind of error messages are you getting?

Hi Hannah. Yes please do email me. Do you have my email?
This problem drives me mad every day.

I have the same problem, on Files, Apple Mail and in Safari it gets lost and won’t show the files. Quite frustrating, he seems to have got worse over the last few months. I can’t recall having the problem when I started using Dropbox.

This happens when I for example in lightroom mobile export photos to the Dropbox directory in the Files app.
There is no error message, it just stops after uploaded a couple of photos in the background, while in the Dropbox app it shows the list of all uploads but nothing happens and I also cannot cancel these uploads.
A workaround I have found is using OneDrive.

Just to let everyone know this is still happening for me - my work around which works well is :
- I save the files to files app (IOS APP)and then do with them what I need eg attach multiple files to email or upload to WETRANSFER or upload to another site eg QuickBooks.
- Using the files app there are no issue ever all works perfectly always.
- Once I have completed the “what ever I need to do” - I then move the files from apple iCloud files or local iPad storage to dropbox and remove from my File app (IOS APP)
So essentially I am using the apple software for all the uploading and downloading steps etc and there is never any issue.
So in short I use dropbox only to save the final file to as a back up - but any up and downloading steps I use the native files (IOS APP) And all is well
OR another options
Reboot the iPad or iphone - this instantly solves the problem.
I think what is happening is there is a “helper” app which is some sort of prog that constantly runs in the background if this falls over then the dropbox upload and download with IOS stops working - this is proved by the fact that a restart or reboot sorts the prob as that will no doubt kill and restart the said “helper” app….(might be wrong but I used to work in IT and this is my guess at what the issue is) question is is the issue within the dropbox software or within the IOS op system - whatever its a bug I would think.
Hope that this helps

I was just wondering if there was a fix for this yet please? I’m having the same problem. Opening or working with files from Dropbox within the Files app is completely unstable, and crashes after a few seconds.

I challenge you to accomplish the following (easy?) task:
From Lightroom for ipad (or any other app that can export photos using the OS's default share function) upload 20 photos to a Dropbox folder.
