How do I claim ownership of local Dropbox files on a Windows profile after switching to Azure AD?

Hello,

 

We have recently changed from a local AD to Azure AD. Due to this, we had to create new profiles on the desktop. The old profiles with the Dropbox files locally synced are now inaccessible as the local AD has been turned off.

 

We are currently trying to remove the Dropbox files from the old profile. I have tried changing the ownership on the folder(s) but the change will not take effect. I have also tried performing this with Dropbox uninstalled but I am having the same result.

 

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    The same way you would under any other circumstance. Dropbox doesn't control this or have anything to do with the process. The Dropbox folder is just a folder like any other.

     

    Make sure you're signed in as an admin or have admin rights for the UAC prompt. Change the owner and check the box to replace owner on all subcontainers and objects. In the Permissions section, make sure you're listed with Full Control and check the box to replace all child object permissions, then click Apply.

     

    If that doesn't work, I'd reach out to your IT team and ask for assistance.
