Just a quick update to say, this issue appears to be resolved.
I can now view text files in dropbox.com using the current version of Chrome on macOS without any issues.
I don't know what changed, but I assume something got fixed, in the dropbox.com website, or in Chrome, or somewhere.

Have you checked that you've not accidentally told Chrome to block cookies from Dropbox?

Yes, see my last para.
Also when I inspect cookies and site data, I can see that many cookies are being successfully set under "dropbox.com" and "www.dropbox.com".

That only says you are using the default settings. It doesnt say if you have changed the default settings for individual sites. Under the cookies settings tab you can add 'Exceptions'.- jmsgwd8 years agoCollaborator | Level 8
