Hey tavishi, thanks for posting this here.
When you say that Dropbox was randomly deleted from your device, did you notice this after an OS update, for example?
Also, if you check your menu bar, can you see a small Dropbox icon? If yes, I’d like you to click on it, and then quit and relaunch the Dropbox app.
If the issue persists, check whether you have a copy of the Dropbox.app file on your computer in these locations:
- /Applications
- ~/Library/Application Support/Dropbox
- If you see this file in both locations, delete the file in the second location(~/Library/Application Support/Dropbox).
- If you see the file in the second location but not in the first, move the file to the first location(/Applications).
Restart the Dropbox desktop app. If the issue isn’t resolved from there, try these steps:
- Open the Terminal application on your computer.
- Type fileproviderctl domain list.
- Press return on your keyboard.
- Please provide us with a screenshot of the output.
- Navigate to your user profile folder ~/Users/[YourUsername].
- Press command-shift-. (period).
- This will show your hidden files.
- Locate and delete the .dropbox folder in ~/Users/[YourUsername].
Let me know, if any of the above helps!

Hey @Nancy
The problem did arise after I got the newest software update. The app is only on my Applications tab not the other location. I can't restart the desktop app because it won't open to begin with. It continues to say "unable to open because of [link]" and the code in the link is the same as provided above. For the last one here is a screenshot of the output from terminal:
The rest of the directions given all output "no such file or directory"

Deleting the Dropbox folder from my hidden files also doesn't do anything.

Thanks for giving that a go, tavishi. I’d like you to try an advanced reinstall, as the next step. That’ll ensure any remnants of the old Dropbox app have been removed.
Besides that, you can go here and see if your device still appears linked to Dropbox. If it does, please unlink it, and try to sign in again.
