When you say that you no longer see the Dropbox icon on the menu bar, are you talking about your small Dropbox icon, next to your WiFi or the bigger one on your menu bar that re-directs you to your Dropbox folder in Finder ?
It might sound trivial, but have you tried re-starting your device at all since you noticed this?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Hi Megan, thanks for your reply. The icon next to my wifi. It hasn't been in my menu bar for a few months. And yes, I restart my machine regularly after using Cocktail and in this instance after reinstalling DB.
