How to stop my camera photos from being backed up into Dropbox?

I have a desktop computer - HP - and in past I would put my camera  scan disk into side of computer and the photos would be downloaded to my computer in my PICTURES folder; now - for some reason they are going into Dropbox which I do not want.  Help. How to do I stop this and return to the way things were before?

Hey earthangel4peace, let's jump right into this!

Would you mind checking into your app's preferences, and specifically under Backup to check what type of settings are applied there?

Is it possible that your camera uploads are enabled?

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Ignore this message...I found where to download app to my computer and I did that. See note I wrote after downloading app and finding BACKUPS

I am a dinosaur with this..I am on a desktop computer..and I simply go to Dropbox site...and it immediately goes to my page/account - I don't have an app on a mobile phone..I went to PREFERENCES  ..there is no BACKUP listed and I don't see camera uploads...I tried to copy what is under preferences; but reply wouldn't let me send that to you.

Dinosaur Jayne here again. I downloaded the app to my home page and opened it and found BACKUPS...and I found where I could choose what to do with pictures and videos...do I want to select Take No Action or Ask Me Each time...

Hey earthangel4peace, that would depend on your preference.

If you don't want the Dropbox app to take any action with the photos, choose the first one.

If you want it to ask you what to do with the photos every time the scan disk gets connected, choose the second option.

        I hope this helps!

Sorry to be the Village Idiot.  Ok, I have the app; I went to Preferences and Backup and changed Auto Play Settings to Take No Action; however when I go back to Backup page with Camera Uploads - there is no choice to change selection there..it is either Photo Only or Photo and Video.  By my changing the Backup - Auto Play Setting to Take No Action - will that eliminate Dropbox downloading pictures when I put a memory card in?

Can you send me a screenshot of the settings you see on your end? Just to have a visual and guide you from there.

You can attach it here by clicking on the following camera button in your message box:

Did you insert your memory card in the meantime and your photos were still uploaded to Dropbox?

How do I copy in one lump sum, all the photos that are on Dropbox; to move onto my computer? I now have the TAKE NO ACTION selected when I download photos in the future - but I still have the set of photos that dropped into Dropbox.

Hi from me too, earthangel4peace. You can open your local Dropbox folder > Camera uploads and press Ctrl A on your keyboard to select all files at once.

After all of your files have been selected, press Ctrl C (to copy) or Ctrl X (to move), go to the location you’d like to move them to and then press Ctrl V.
