How are you uploading the files?

If you're doing it through the Dropbox app on your phone, either manually or with the automatic Camera Uploads feature, then you're uploading files directly to your account online. Those files then sync down to your computer, either as Available offline or Online-only, based on your settings.

You can go to the Sync tab in Dropbox Preferences and change the Default sync state for new files from Online-only to Available offline. This setting controls how files that are added from other devices (your phone, another computer, Dropbox.com, etc.) will appear on your local drive. Online-only saves disk space by only showing a pointer or reference file until that file is needed. Available offline uses disk space, but the files exist locally and can be accessed even if you lose Internet connectivity.

For any files that are already on your computer with the cloud icon, you can right-click them en masse and select Make available offline.

Can you provide a screenshot showing this? Be sure to mask any private information.

Are you possibly referring to the files being marked as Online-only, in which they have a cloud on the icon? If so, these files aren't stored locally on your drive. They only exist in the cloud until you go to open them or right-click and select Available Offline.

      Hi,
That must be it,a grey background with a white cloud.
When i upload i thought i was sending to my pc as thats where they end up,i click on them & the trasparency is gone.
Is there a way to change this as before i never had this issue.
      Thanks
