Files can't be accessed when shared

Hi - I facilitate trainings via Zoom. The participants who attend these trainings receive helpful "participant handouts" prior to each class. When I was testing the user access from an outside account, all but 2 out of the 21 files can be viewed without an existing Dropbox account. For some reason (unknown to me), only two files open up to the error and login page pictured. I am stumped as to how to enable the viewing like the rest of the files. Help!

  • Hi ShelbyRH, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Could you clarify exactly how you shared the individual files to the other users?

Are they shared files, which require a Dropbox account to access them, or a shared link to a file, which can be access on the site itself?

This will help me to assist further!

Hi Jay - Thanks for looking into this!

After reading your comment, I believe the other 19 files that "work" the way I want them too fall under the "shared link to a file". I do not want my training participants to have to have a Dropbox account to view their handouts.

I will review the link to the help page you shared for guidance on how to set up the files for sharing/viewing without a dropbox account. If you have any additional tips, please feel free to send them my way!

Hi ShelbyRH, sorry to jump in here!

Out of curiosity, what happens when you click the aA initials that are shown on your screenshot, and then request the desktop view of the site? You should be able to proceed, without a Dropbox account.

Also, make sure to use an incognito tab on your browser to test this.

        Let me know!
