In my experience, this happens when a shared folder currently has—or previously had—shared folders within it (in Dropbox for Business). The use case is simply not well supported. It becomes buggy at best, and in some cases—I can't figure out exactly what triggers it—IMPOSSIBLE to every unshare some of the outer folders.

The "unshare" feature in Dropbox could be a million times better, and since there is no built in way to handle it i got a tip about "Watermint".

I ran into a situation where i needed to unshare some hundred folders with hundreds of users, and the official answer was "you need to remove the users one by one from the folders one by one" which would have taken me weeks to do.

But, with Watermint you can "batch" the unsharing, so have a look.

    Hello endmission,

One workaround would be to :

    1) Remove all current members off the folder

    2) Create a new folder in your Dropbox and copy all the content from the shared folder to the newly created folder.

    3) Once the content is copied, got to the original shared folder and start deleting the contents.

    4) Then delete that folder.

Let me know if that works, I'll be happy to help further, thanks!

I'm sorry but this is a lousy and potentially very time consuming work around. If the parent folder contains several gigs and thousands of files, we're talking about hours of work/waiting.

We should be able to unshare pretty easily but despite trying solutions offered on this community board, my folder remains shared.

I am having the same issue.  I need to move a folder that was shared to a new shared folder.  I choose "unshare" for my original folder.  It removed all members.  It states  "only you", meaning me, yet the shared icon will not got away nor can I move it to a new shared folder.  And please don't say if it says "only you" then I need to removed myself.  All of my folders that are unshared say that, yet aren't shared and do not have the icon representing the folders are shared.  This has happened to me multiple times and I can't seem to find any advice on how to fix the problem other than copy all of the files to a new folder individually, which is a waste of time.

Hey Michel G.7 - sorry to hear about this.

Could you confirm that you're using these steps to un-share the folder in question?

Let us know more and we'll take it from there.

They don't appear as mentioned in the tutorial.

And the folder I want to unshare is notified as if I am the only one who can access to this folder (but the shared icon is still there).

I can assure you that I am really exhausted with these Dropbox issues.
