Online-only works as backup?
Hello all... sorry if I did not get that myself though, but I was wondering... Let's say I have a folder synchronized w Dropbox through smartsync,
1 If I delete that folder from my computer, will the folder disappear from my dropbox?
2 If my computer breaks/gets stolen, will I have access to the folder through dropbox?
Thanks a lot, folks.
Hi potassio97
In answer to your questions:
1) if you delete the file locally it will delete in Dropbox even if its set to Smart Sync. Smart Sync just means its not stored on the device, but, it still works/treat/access like a local folder
2) if you DONT delete it then you can recover/restore etc. via the website.
A work around if you dont want it locally is to use Selective Sync on the directory instead of Smart Sync. This deletes it locally but leaves it in the Dropbox cloud.
