If you go to your account on dropbox.com, are you able to locate and open the file in question?
Also, is it possible to send us a screenshot of the message you got from Word about the illegible content?

Hi Hannah, no I can’t locate the document, but in the Finder it does appear Under a file thats sabes on my Dropbox Family. Is there Any Roger way to chat with you? I can’t send sreenshots here 😕

You should be able to send us some screenshots, by clicking the camera-like icon when trying to reply back to us here. Just make sure none of your personal info is shown there.
I'd love to have a visual of the file's path, and the message you get when trying to preview it.
