Getting a permissions error when trying to delete a shared folder
A folder of pictures was shared with me and I saved the folder in Dropbox. I have since moved the folder to a shared drive at work. I now want to delete the original shared folder (and pictures) to free up space on my Dropbox. However, the following message pops up:
"You need permission to perform this action
You require permission from XXXXXX\cpaluga to make changes to this folder"
I am that person that requires permission, so why can't I delete the folder, or grant permission?
- Thanks for that, can you try unsharing the folder from this page:
https://www.dropbox.com/share
Click the ellipsis (...) and then 'Remove from Dropbox'. The folder will become grayed out on the site, and the folder should vanish from your computer.
- JayDropbox StaffThis sounds like a message from your OS, are you on Windows by any chance?
You mentioned that you moved the folder to a shared drive at work, does this mean a network drive, or did you share a folder with another Dropbox account?
Any information you can provide would be helpful!- CPalugaExplorer | Level 4
Yes, I use Windows.
I copied the folder and its pictures to a network drive.
