Files are deleting themselves?? Why??
I keep seeing advisements pop up of files being deleted, but I am not deleting them.
- Recover one of the deleted files and then look at the previous version history for it. It will show you which account/device was used to delete it. That's where you need to look.

This is extremely frustrating. I have verified that no linked devices are deleting files. There is 0% that one of the linked devices is deleting the files. The files are deleting themselves. So fa, I have lost over 700 files. I can restore them, I know, but they keep deleting themselves much faster than I can control it. I trusted dropbox with all my files and now they are deleting themselves and I can't even call anyone. On the events page it does not indicate who is deleting the files. It does not show which computer is deleting them... Arg..

Mr Rich R
Regardless of you thinking dropbox cannot delete the files, it is and as you can see its happened to a number of people and they all cannot be wrong. If Dropbox is ignoring the fact that something is wrong I suggest those effected move to another supplier. I had it happen to me once touch wood it has not happened again. As explained to a dropbox rep the files deleted were word, excel and PDF files all jpeg files were not effected. On your comments today who or why would you go through and delete 4000 files. I also have a google drive account with approximately the same amount of files on it and have not had a problem.

Mine does not even pop up any more to tell me files are being deleted.

I have the same problem and I believe because the syncing takes way too long to do that any other device that access the dropbox will take the active devices setting of files and set dropbox website to replicate what the active device has currently. I have also had many file that were removed now are coming back. I have not accessed dropbox from any other device except for my main computer and files are deleted (like over 1,000 files) and other files added that were not requested. From all of the posting on this forum stating the same issue and the only solution that is provided is that the problem is on our end then I am not sure if Dropbox is a solution for me anymore. It is a shame since I have been a supporter of Dropbox for many, many years and referred many people to Dropbox.

The same things happens to me and I agree with the other users I have not done anything. I will have a folder I called ICPMS and within the folder have a subfolder called Python. One day the folder is there the next day it is gone and I have to restore it. then a week later it might be gone again. I have dropbox on multiple computers all logged in with me. Sometimes since we work at a college we have to install and un-install dropbox on a computer but that shouldn't do it as we don't lose the other files. We are starting to lose really important files and we are thinking of stopping using dropbox for any important files. I just bought another drive to make continuous backups for this problem. I agree with the other users that somehow dropbox mysteriously deletes folders and files for no reason and there is a bug somewhere. I have not found a pattern yet.

As you can see below, I select restore and within 3 seconds after resorting it, DropBox says I deleted it. I'm not.
Can someone now please admit there is a problem and stop saying DropBox can't delete it? There is obviously a runaway synchronization problem or some such issue that deletes the file from the very same machine it is added on.
HELP!

Hey guys...over 4000 files deleted by themselves....including active files that my client need...what is going on???

I had an email from Dropbox on 31/10 saying that many files had been deleted. When I checked everything had been deleted! Restoring them will take hours as there seem to be multiple copies too. What a mess.
Rich R. I checked my Events page which says that I deleted on Saturday when I was visiting friends and wasn't even at a computer. Other deletions happened since then which says that my partner deleted them... again I know she didn't. You say that Dropbox cant delete them... so how is it happening?
I also have a Samsung Galaxy 4 and I've disabled Dropbox on this following comments above.
Can Dropbox at least restore them to what they were before the deletion event?
