I can't open a Dorico file that was shared with me on Dropbox.

Hi, I recently got Dorico Elements and a pal has been working with me on a composition. He saved the work to our mutually accessible Dropbox but when I try to open it, Dropbox won’t allow me to.

Have you got Dorico installed on the device?

Dropbox simply moves the files around, it doesn't open them for you - that happens to the individual programs on the device 🙂

Hi there BigAlRussell, our fab SuperUser Mark has given you the perfect answer in the last comment 😎🙌.

You’ll need to have Dorico installed on your device to open the file directly from Dropbox. Without Dorico, Dropbox won’t recognise the file type, so if you just want to view or review the score, your friend can save it as a PDF for easy access on any device 👨‍💻💌.

And just so you know, we also have a Musicians section in the Dropbox Community ✨. It’s a great place to connect with other Dorico users who use Dropbox 🤝 - might be super helpful 🤗. Let us know if you need any more help!
