Hey PeterGVT, sorry to hear about this.
Are you on a Mac or Windows computer and what's your OS's version?
Did something happen on your computer that day, like an update either of the OS or the Dropbox app?
What's the sync status and version of the Dropbox app?
You can hover over your Dropbox icon to find this info.
Let me know and we'll go from there.

Thanks for your reply. I am using a Windows 11 Home Lenovo laptop. I didn't notice anything strange as far as power surges or updates or crashes. I had the same problem over multiple days and on 2 computers (the other is a Windows 10 desktop). Yesterday I tried a couple of files saved to a usb and didn't have a problem, while files saved to DropBox would not work. I tested a couple of files today and it seems to be working now. It looks like it was a temporary DropBox issue. Recreating those files is very time consuming, so I'm hesitant to rely on DropBox now.
Thanks again for your help.
