Hello everyone. I have the free version of DropBox. I was wondering how to set up a shared dropbox link that could make a folder for one an upload happens. I will be giving a link to upload a bunch of photos to multiple people, and need a way to keep it all organized so my drop box doesn't mix in a ton of photos. So if person A send me 20 photos and person B send 30, each sender would have a folder that is created so I can keep it organized. Also, how easy would it be to sync or transfer those folders from Dropbox to Google Drive?Solved1.4KViews1like4CommentsDropbox icon constantly reports "Indexing 4 files..."
I deleted all files in my personal Dropbox account, then moved a couple gigs of files into it from my work Dropbox account. It took a little while to move the files but has been completed for a couple days but I have a persistent working icon showing and it says "Indexing 4 files...". How do I determine which files it is supposedly still indexing, or if it is just hung up for some reason? I told it to show me any Sync issues and it says I have no sync issues. I have quit/restarted several times. Running Windows10.59Views0likes9CommentsUnable to move Dropbox folder to external drive on Mac
Good evening, I have tried many solutions suggested by this forum to get the result of having a copy of the files present on the cloud also on an external mac disk but without success (permissions, formatting the APFS drive encrypted and not, mac os extended). The disk where the operating system resides is 250GB and is not sufficient to also contain the dropbox files. currently my operating system is sequoia 15.3.2 si imac retina 5k 2020. do you have any solutions?70Views0likes10CommentsThe Dropbox right-click options are gone from my Mac's Finder.
My files are all in the cloud. This restricts things I can do on my Mac; I can't preview or upload to the web, for example (which I want to do often). I thought one used to be able to right click in the Finder and make a particular folder available offline. But that's missing on my Mac. Right clicking in a Dropbox folder reveals nothing connected to Dropbox. Otherwise, files function and sync if opened and modified as normal. The Dropbox icon at the top right of the Mac screen is visible and seems to be functioning normally. Can right clicking in the Finder be turned on somehow? I have the option to make all Dropbox files available offline in Dropbox preferences, but I don't want all of the files—just some of them.369Views0likes26CommentsWhy was the way screenshots were handled changed?
Me and my friends question what drove the people behind this software to break something intentionally like that? I work as a Quality Assurance expert, and can only see this change as sabotage. When I press "PrtSc" I want the image to be copied into my clipboard. The fact that it was saved into the screenshots folder wasn't always desired, but I could deal with it (always cleaned up that folder once a month). But now that doesn't happen. I get so many extra steps, and if I opt out of it, I'm left with nothing. Sure, I could just install a different software for making screenshots, but that seems so stupid to do, given what worked before!140Views2likes10CommentsNew computer not making files local
I have a Dropbox that I've maintained for nearly 14 years over various devices, and on my latest computer I've found that the files aren't syncing to offline mode automatically. I changed the setting that allows new files to be saved offline and not just to the cloud, but I can't seem to figure out to how to make sure that it downloads everything (almost 2GB) back to my new system. I can wait for it for sync everything (though 90% is already on the computer, just in an older folder that the new installation of Dropbox refuses to use), but I can't figure out an easy option to do so.Solved1.7KViews0likes11CommentsRestore the Linux Dropbox Daemon folder selective sync GUI
That latest update to the Linux Dropbox daemon removed the GUI for allowing users to select which folders to sync. This was confirmed to me by technical support (hence me making this suggestion here, per their recommendation). The CLI still works of course (e.g., dropbox exclude add/remove), but this adds another, odious, step, since one has to first find where those files and folders are on Dropbox via the web browser, then build the correct path and copy that to the CLI. It is very, very inefficient. We have gotten used to and accepted the lack of good Linux functionality on Linux over the years (and certainly not smartsync...) while paying the same price as anyone else, but this new regression really does add a whole new impediment to using Dropbox efficiently, especially for business. Please restore the folder select GUI, at the very least!28Views1like1Comment
