setting up the apps

I'm using the free version of dropbox. I have the desktop app and android apps downloaded. I have a .txt file in a dropbox folder I created. I shared the folder and I'm following that folder. Per this https://help.dropbox.com/organize/follow-folder When I put a new version of that .txt (always same filename) file in the dropbox folder I want to receive a notification on my phone that a file was uploaded. All notifications are turned on to my knowledge. What do I need to do to get a notification on my android phone when that .txt file is uploaded on my PC thru the dropbox desktop app?654Views1like4CommentsDropbox Client for Linux on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS- icon not clickable.
Guys, I've noticed a bug on Dropbox Client on Ubuntu 23.10 and the same occurs on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS after a installed it from scratch on my machine. It's really a bug on the app on desktop. The problem is: the app on system tray doesnt open or show anything until the system is blocked to block screen and returns putting password. After that it works normally as it should. I recorded a short video showing the problem with you: https://youtu.be/6a4cvtZsRWo How can this issue be solved? Is this the right place to report it? God bless you all!Solved10KViews6likes50CommentsDropbox Passwords doesn't sync logins between devices?
I use Dropbox Passwords on 4 devices. My iPhone and my 'old' Macbook Pro, where everything syncs and works, and my iPad and my new Macbook Pro, where nothing is synced. Both just show me the 'Start adding accounts' screen. I've been through a looong list of measures with chat support, but nothing has solved this so far. Has anybody else experienced something similar? And maybe even found a potential solution?3KViews2likes21CommentsSaving email attachments (pictures) using Dropbox for Outlook on Windows 11
Hi smart peolple I have installed Dropbox for Outlook(desktop) on Windows 11. We are getting lots of mails with photos from out staff when they are cleaning. I wish to use the app for saving those photos on Dropbox. However when saving photos to Dropbox, It will also save all the icons in peoples signature. That is often 5-6 tiny pictures with phones, FB, LinkedIn logos ect. Anyway to avoid those tiny icons/pictures? NB: I know I can remove them manually, but that takes way to long time.Solved77Views0likes7CommentsWindows 11 built-in backup and restore feature.
It is about Windows 11 built-in backup and restore feature. I need to check if Dropbox is safe with this feature. Suppose I backed up every Windows setting with this image backup feature built inside Windows 11. My Dropbox storage is located in E driver (not C driver). Suppose my Windows gets a problem in the future. Suppose I restore Windows using backed up image. In this case, my Dropbox application in Windows will go back to the backed-up stage. In this case, will my Dropbox files in E driver safe? Do I have to delete all dropbox files in E driver before Windows restoration? Or will Dropbox application in C driver safely recognize my Dropbox files in E driver?Solved1.2KViews0likes3CommentsHow to share a Dropbox folder between Windows and Linux installs on the same PC?
Currently it is impossible to share a Dropbox folder between Windows and Linux installs on the same PC. They appear to contain the same files with the same metadata, but Dropbox for Linux refuses to write to an NTFS partition, and similarly Dropbox for Windows refuses to write to ext4. Is there a workaround for this? I don't want two copies of everything. I have been a loyal Dropbox user for years because I believe in supporting software that does one thing and does it well, but this "no mixing filesystems" rule means I have to choose between Dropbox and my dual-boot. I would love it if I didn't have to choose, and I'm sure I'm not alone!425Views2likes4CommentsAndroid PDF quality settings, and turn off automatic scan.
Hi, I am using the Dropbox app on an IOS phone (IPhone). I mainly use the app to scan documents to PDF format. In the app I have the option to set the quality in which the document is scanned, and I have the option to disable automatic scanning (I prefer to capture the document well myself with the camera and manually start the scanning process). Once these options are set, the Dropbox app remembers these settings every time I launch it. My question : how can I set these options on Android ? Nowhere can I find an option regarding the quality of the resulting PDF. On the other hand, after turning off automatic scanning must be run every time.38Views0likes1CommentCannot connect to Dropbox during desktop installation
Hello, I'm running a PC with windows 8.1. Dropbox has been running fine for years Today I had to uninstall dropbox and when I tried to reinstall it, (after cleaning up de leftovers). I got stuck on a pretty blue logo going around after logging in while the greyed-out Dropbox icon in the taskbar reads "waiting to be linked to a dropbox account". I've been all day uninstalling, reinstalling, doing advanced re-installation as per your instructions, etc. to no aval. I've gone through every single post in the search results below: Search - Dropbox Community (dropboxforum.com) Please, don't give me the same instructions again. I am really frustrated because I have no way to work with my collaborators. I hope you can help me.Solved4.2KViews0likes9CommentsProblem with Blender 3d and MacOS Beta
Hi I just updated to the MacOS Dropbox BETA on Monterey 12.6.3, and it all seem to be working perfectly, except for a problem with Blender 3D 3.4. Blender seems to use a non standard file manager, maybe part of its cross platform development base, I assume. When I try to access my newly moved dropbox files (ie everything) from inside Blender I cannot get into the root dropbox folder. I can get to it via /users/user/library/cloudstorage but I cannot get further than that. This effects everything involving file diologues: open, save, export, import, linked textures, etc I've tried setting up alias that go directly to points further within the file hierarchy, but they always just lead me to the root folder and stop me there. I can double click on blender files within dropbox in the finder and they open fine, but if I try to save them they can't save back to dropbox. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to fix or get around this? Do I need symlinks rather than aliases, or is there some sort of permission I need to set? Cheers PeterSolved3KViews0likes13Comments
