50 TopicsFile got reverted to a version from months ago
Hi there! I've been using Dropbox for over 10 years. One file I frequently use is part of my private finances. When I tried to access the file today, it seems to have reverted to a version from Oct 2024?? I access this file from my private Dropbox account on a desktop & laptop. I've only accessed the file through Dropbox, Windows Explorer, and an app called Obsidian. All I do with the file is open it and add data to it; I've never moved, copied, or deleted the file. The file is set be be available offline as well as online in Dropbox. I tried looking through my whole local Dropbox directory on both my laptop & desktop for a file with the same name, maybe it got moved, no luck. I also searched for it in the Dropbox cloud, no luck either. I tried to look at the 30-day file history in Dropbox; it said it only got changed today while I know I open it and save to it multiple times a month. I took a look at the dropbox.com/events page; on days where I know I changed the file, there are no events for that file at all. It's like Dropbox thinks the file got created only today. Please help! This file is very important to me.4Views0likes0Commentsfile provider not available on macOS after restore

Hello. Since the big Dropbox update in February 2025 I have been experiencing issues. I mainly use Dropbox in Windows file explorer, not on the Dropbox App / Site. I have Dropbox for Windows on 3 separate devices: (2) Windows 11 Laptops, and (1) Windows 10 Desktop - and I have am having the same issue on all devices. The main issue is image previews in the "preview pane" of the Windows file explorer. Before the update, if I had an image saved locally / set to "available offline", a full preview of the image would show up in the preview pane, just as it would if I was in a local folder on my computer, like my "Pictures" folder, or whatever. Also, images that were only in the cloud / set to "online only" would display a small compressed preview in the preview pane, which is fine. Since the February update, when I am in my Dropbox folder with images that have been downloaded locally, it will either only generate a small compressed preview in the preview pane, or no preview at all, and it takes a very long time for the preview to show up. However, the "online only" images are still behaving the same, showing only a small compressed preview in the preview pane, however the preview shows up faster than it does for a locally saved file... So strange. I do a lot of image editing and graphic design, so not being able to quickly scroll through my image folders and look at the previews puts a massive kink in my workflow. It has been driving me insane. It's like the Dropbox Windows app is having difficulty discerning which files are downloaded locally or just in the cloud. For some reason it is treating the downloaded files like they are still in the cloud, or even worse for some reason as sometimes a preview won't even load, compressed or otherwise. The green checkmark is there on the file, but the previews are compressed or don't show up at all. And this it not an intermittent problem, it is constant and has not gotten better since the update in February. I have been resorting to moving the images into a local folder on whichever device I am currently using so that I am able to scroll through them efficiently, and then re-upload them to the Dropbox folder when I am done working, and then download them to a local folder again on my next device. It is very annoying to do every time. There has to be a better way. I also checked the functionality of my OneDrive and iCloud folders in Windows, and they all show previews in the preview pane just fine, just like my local Windows folders. It is solely a Dropbox issue. I tried searching Reddit and could find nothing, so I started my own post on there, and there are a handful of other people that have come forward with the same problem. Someone from Dropbox commented on my Reddit post and suggested that I post on here, so here I am. Any help out there?? Thank you.83Views1like6CommentsThe list of local Dropbox files on my Mac are different from the web
Ok when I started on drop box about when It first came out was good.. Several Macs. later. and storage locations later. the directory of files on dropbox is significantly different then what the application shows. I have a limited number of files or folders then I want to keep on my local Mac because I need to keep the local files on an external drive. I think the difference was caused by the external drive being disconnected while the Dropbox application was open.. I only recently found out this is a bad thing. How so I "sych" up the list dropbox files shown in the application with what is in the cloud?Solved97Views0likes14CommentsSpring Clean your Desktop with Dropbox 🌸

I love the option to save screenshots into Dropbox. Unfortunately if you enable it, you have to choose between: copy link copy image within the "When screenshot is ready" dropdown. On too many occasions this has overwritten something I had only recently copied to the clipboard. When I go to paste it, I instead find that it's been replaced by the link to the image, or the image itself. I still want to save my screenshots into Dropbox, but I'd love a 3rd option within "When screenshot is ready" dropdown: Don't copy anything to clipboard I'd imagine this is very simple to implement, so thought I'd ask :)24Views0likes2CommentsThere are too many context menu entries, how can I delete some of them on Windows?
When right clicking a file/folder, there are just too many Context Menu entries which is slowing down the appearance of the menu itself. Could anyone suggest how can I delete/remove some or all of the Dropbox content menu entries in Windows?34Views1like1CommentPlease darken and enlarge the font in Support chats.
The font in Support chat is very pale, there is not sufficient contrast to read easily. The current font is very hard to read because of this lack of contrast. Please darken and enlarge the font to make it easier to read Please refer to ticket number 249-22794 dropbox support chat as an example. Thank you30Views0likes2Comments
