[How to] Download Zoom Meetings to Team folder not personal folder in dropbox.
Want to download meetings from zoom account to the 'business' part of the dropbox account not the Personal Dropbox folder. Both accounts have the same email address. Have connected the apps - so Zoom meetings are downloaded to Dropbox automatically. Can I change the download location from the personal DB folder to a shared team folder? If not, could a rule move these files? Have 'Dropbox Advanced' plan. Thanks
Can I automatically rename files within a folder based on their added date/username?
Dear Dropbox Gurus, I am setting up a folder where members of my team will be able to upload data from an external system that we will use for other processes. What I would like to do is unify the file names and if possible have Dropbox automatically rename the files to a standardized format without relying on the user to do this. We would like to have the files named in the following format: "BW_Scoring_Data_"{FileTime Stamp Format YYYYMMDD_HHNN - use date/time from file if exists/otherwise use current date/time}_{UserName}.{fileExtension} So for example: if I had uploaded the file "BW+Score+Recorder+-+with+AI_April+20,+2025_09.52 (1a).xml" I would like to have it renamed: BW_Scoring_Data_20250420_0952_GaryH_BAR01.xml Is this possible to set up via Dropbox Automation? If so, how?
Root folder control removed from Finder in Dropbox Business
The business version of Dropbox no longer allows users to add or remove folders in Finder from the root Dropbox folder. This change was just applied to my account, but I came across a thread from 10 months ago — now closed — where many other users expressed similar frustration, with no clear reasoning provided. I’m genuinely curious why Dropbox would choose to make the root folder essentially unusable outside of their website. As a workaround, we’ve created a single folder inside the root, which we now use as our working root folder to maintain our existing workflow. But honestly, it feels ridiculous that this workaround is even necessary. Could someone from Dropbox explain the reasoning behind this change? My first guess was that it might be a safeguard against accidentally deleting important folders — but that doesn’t really hold up, since users can still easily delete folders inside a makeshift root folder in Finder.
Team folders in Power Automate have stopped working after 20/04/2024 upgrade
Since the upgrade to Dropbox on the 20/04/2024 we have encountered a number of issues with apps and programs that utilise Dropbox. Rather than confusing the issue, the first of these relates to Microsoft power automate. The team Dropbox folders that are shared with me and monitored by this program have now disappeared. The only Dropbox folders I can see our my specific folders, and not those that I have access to as part of a team. In my DBL Dropbox desktop folder I have my profile folder and then I have access to all the team folders that I am part of. I can access these on my desktop and online without an issue. The problem I have is that if I am trying to access these team folders through any other software, they are not visible following the upgrade on 20 April? This is causing major issues and I assume that there is a setting that needs to be changed for me and my colleagues? Any thoughts would be appreciated.My Dropbox account became Basic after a Business trial, even though I had paid for a personal plan.
I trialled the business plan after much 'pushing' from dropbox. now it has ended and I seem to be downgraded to a basic account when I had already paid for the professional essentials account. Please help.
Notification/warning when closing a locked file
My idea is about locked files and the problem that people forget to unlock it after they're done working in it. To avoid that people forget to unlock a file after they close it, it would be nice that you get a warning about the file still being locked when you close it. (in the same way an application asks you if you want to save changes before closing it) This notification would avoid the problem that a file stays locked for hours or days without reason, just because someone forgot to unlock it.
