when I downloaded dropbox onto my laptop, it prompted me to enable auto saving screenshots as jpeg, which has been quite helpful. however, I have not been able to enable that option on my pc, I can't access the settings, dropbox has a very useless article on how to enable this, but like I said, it is useless and full of wrong info, I can't open the "dropbox desktop app" in order to access the settings.12Views0likes3CommentsThere are two Dropbox folders on my computer and both seem to be syncing to Dropbox.
The old Dropbox main folder (D:\Dropbox (Westcoast) remains as a junction since the change of Dropbox main folder naming some years back. New files are saved correctly in the new folder system but appears also in the old folder together with all other old files. But when I try to delete a file in the old junction folder it's also deleted in the correct main folder. How can I safely remove the junction such new files are not appearing and ultimately delete the old junction folder hierarchy without destroying files and folders in the correct main folder.29Views0likes5CommentsUnable to claim promotion on my new OMEN computer
I got a brand new OMEN PC for Christmas and at first, there was Dropbox promo available in task bar (Win 11), but after installing the app from website the promo disappeared. It was supposed to be 25 GB for 12 months. I tried clean install but the pinned promo never showed up.17Views0likes1CommentI want to move my Dropbox folder to D drive but it says I have to disable backup
Hello, I read some other advice about this, and this is how far I got before I got stuck. Opened the Drobox app on my Taskbar. Clicked on my Avatar and then picked Preferences. Went down to Sync. Clicked on Dropbox Folder Location, changed it to my D Drive. Started moving, then stopped and said I had to disable PC Backup. Opened up the app on the Taskbar again and paused syncing indefinitely. Went through all the steps again, but got the same message. Any suggestions? Renate26Views0likes1CommentHow do I find the Dropbox Preferences on Windows?
I'm trying to change the syncing settings, but I can't seem to find the Preferences or open the Desktop App. I've downloaded Dropox (and I tried to do it again but the website said it was already installed) but any time I open the app it only opens the File Explorer. I've gathered there are a lot of settings I can manage in the Preferences sections but how on earth do I access it? I'm using a PC with Windows 11.Solved31Views0likes5CommentsHow can I make my files available offline on my computer?

Can you please advise how to go about that as I am unable to find solution details. Thank you.Solved389Views0likes11CommentsDropbox removing external disk support for Mac users
In case anyone's unaware... if you're a Mac user storing your Dropbox on an external drive, you'll shortly lose that ability. https://talk.tidbits.com/t/dropbox-drops-support-for-storing-files-on-an-external-drive-and-onedrive-retains-it/20797/16 https://help.dropbox.com/installs/macos-support-for-expected-changes Just confirmed this with DB support (see below). Gutted - been with Dropbox for years and our entire video team flow is based around it 😕 >Hi there, I read today that you are scrapping the ability to store the Dropbox folder on external disks, on OSX. I'd like to ask more about this please. > Hello Jon, and thank you for contacting Dropbox Support. My name is Joseph, and I will be more than happy to look into your request, right away. That is correct Jon, as part of the Dropbox for macOS update, the Dropbox folder must be located in ~/Library/CloudStorage. >This is a showstopper for us, and will mean we have to move to another service. We have a large distributed team using DB for video work, no way it'll fit within internal drives. Is there a workaround? >I totally understand and I apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, there is no workaround on this as changing the location of your Dropbox folder is no longer supported by macOS. >This change doesn't seem to have hit us yet - we're running a variety of machines inc Ventura What will trigger its enforcement? Can we stay on an earlier OS or Dropbox version? >The updates happening automatically every time the Dropbox app is restarting, for example if your device never restarts it should maintain the older version but we can't guarantee full functionality on older versions of the application. >So what will happen - if we have a Dropbox folder on an 8TB drive and a tiny internal drive - will it try to clone stuff across and eat up the space? What's the mechanism? >That's right, it will try to move the content on your internal drive until it has no space and gives you an error. >Is Smartsync still supported?I.e. will it move stuff to being online only if it won't fit? >It is, however it is now known as online-only.Solved101KViews25likes693CommentsMy files sync as online-only, but I need to make them available offline. How do I do this?
I keep virtually all my files on drop box so I have them continuously backed up. I have about 700gb of data used for this. I just bought a new computer with windows 11 and after getting drop box up and running it appeared that all my stuff was synced up. I thought it was going to take several house to copy over that much data but it only took about 20 minutes. Now I am discovering that many of my file are actually "off line" and when I open them I have a lag waiting for the file to come over the internet. I often have a need to use my computer when there is no internet connection and I must have all my file available on my C drive. How can I get all my files onto my c drive? Is this something that is actually happening in the background and I am just not seeing it? (I only got it working yesterday)29Views0likes5CommentsHow to get my files from my old computer to my new one?
I got a new computer. I downloaded dropbox. But it's as if it's a new account. Not asking me to sign in so it can sync all my info. I thought this was the email I used on the other computer but apparently not. If I log out and go to log in, it uses the new info. Not sure how to get all my info from the old computer to this one.24Views0likes1Comment
