I have a new laptop (MacBook Air - M4), running the latest Sequoia. I migrated everything over from my former system, which included Dropbox. Day-1, all was running fine. Day-2, I needed to change the names of the System Users. I followed the instructions from Apple, which includes changing the home folder name in "Users" and then the corresponding account name field(s) in System Settings, Users & Groups, The home folder path on Day-1, with the original name, was /Users/keri_1/ On Day-2 -- after the renaming -- the new (& current) home folder path is /Users/keri/ Now when I launch DropBox, it is looking for this path to grant permissions: /Users/keri_1/.dropbox and immediately gives the message that "Dropbox needs to change permissions for the Folder: /Users/keri_1/.dropbox" which it cannot find since that path name no longer exists. Clicking OK, the next message I get is "Couldn't start Dropbox" and it shuts down. How do I get DropBox to correct the path it is trying to use? I have contacted Support and we have exchanged several emails, including some Terminal commands to run, which did not correct this issue.Solved23Views0likes2CommentsDropbox won't show me the option to make content "available offline".
have installed Dropbox on two MacBooks. On the first one, I can download folders and make them available offline. However, this isn't working on this MacBook Air. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled Dropbox. Dropbox has full disk access on this laptop. What is going wrong, and how can I resolve this?380Views0likes17CommentsI installed the Dropbox app on Windows 11, but it keeps freezing.
Just installed windows 11 24h2 in my computer and finished all the updates. Proceeded to install dropbox and the installation flows fine but right after setting up the account and selecting the folders to sync the programs stalls. Tried uninstalling, restarting the computer, clearing cache, clearing the register, installing again and the same. Have tried to not change the folders to download, have tried having only online and also in the laptop and it all fails. After a while, in some cases, the app restarts itself and asks me to sign in again and then it's the same issue all over again.17Views0likes1CommentI can't open the app, reinstalling doesn't work.
Salve, quando cerco di avviare l'app Dropbox su Mac mi compare il messaggio "Impossibile avviare Dropbox". L'app ha sempre funzionato sino a ieri. Cosa posso fare? Ho già provato a disinstallare e reinstallare il programma invano. Chiedo aiuto, grazie.Solved49Views0likes6CommentsOption to disable notifications for automations when using the desktop app.
It's been years since this topic came up. Currently it is not possible to disable notifications for any automation, unlike other notifications. I honestly don't understand what's the hold-up here and sincerely ask you to allow me and others to disable them. I do not need them, and it just conditions me to blindly ignore any notifications, even if there would be some that were more important. I don't understand why you think they are that important that they should override user choice.72Views0likes4Comments"1 file is unable to sync" error on sync status but "See Issues" option shows nothing.
Hi everyone, I could use some help on this Dropbox pushed out an update to our user environment and it broke our integration and we are slowly starting to fix it. I have a user that has a file that will not sync. When i click the option to see what file is not syncing, it is blank. I cannot locate this file anywhere. I stopped the sync for an hour to let indexing catch up and restarted the sync. No luck We also uninstalled and reinstalled Dropbox (completely removing the folders and profile from before) ran chkdsk Signed out, rebooted and signed back in verified there is no firewall or antivirus restrictions Stopped and restarted the dropbox services we are on version 199.4.62871.4KViews1like8CommentsMy screenshots don't save to my Dropbox account on Windows, even though the feature is enabled.
My screenshots are not saving to Dropbox at all even though the option is checked to do so right under settings. In fact I have the Snipping Tool for Windows 11 turned 100% off because I hate the dang thing and prefer screenshots hence why I use the "PRT SC" button in the first place! I don't want Screenshots going to Microsoft's Stupid "OneDrive" and turned that feature off as well for that known trash for OneDrive destroyed my system and took over my desktop on my old laptop and my backup that I personally made via an External Hard Drive and a Hard Drive Enclosure with my old laptop's hard drive (since it was a power port issue that killed it) and not a hard drive failure was able to get everything back but my horror it was all still connected under a link to OneDrive and my new laptop during setup forced everything to OneDrive but unmapped everything from OneDrive to where I want it and took control back from Microsoft (wish the same can be said about the Start Menu) but that's not what I'm here for. Ever since I had to get a new laptop because my old one died my screenshots will not save to Dropbox at all and they don't ever appear in my Dropbox "Screenshots" Folder. I literally have to open up Paint on my laptop and paste the screenshot there just to get it then put it into Dropbox. So to reiterate it in punctuated facts: EVER SINCE I GOT THIS NEW LAPTOP AND INSTALLED DROPBOX (BASIC) ALL OF MY SCREENSHOTS DO NOT GO TO MY SCREENSHOTS FOLDER IN DROPBOX EVEN THOUGH MY SETTINGS ARE SET FOR THAT! Here's direct proof that Settings show that Screenshots are 100% set to save to Screenshots in Dropbox yet I go that folder and the screenshot I took is not there, it is on the Windows 11 Clipboard and I have to paste it into MS Paint then manually save that picture to Dropbox and the Screenshots folder where I wanted it in the first place!15Views0likes1CommentHow can I make my password-saving app save its database to Dropbox and sync it to other devices?
I have a password program on my pc that saves the data base file to Documents\My Safes when it closes. Do I have to direct the program to save to the DBox folder instead of the...\My Safes folder if I wish to have the file automatically synced with Drop Box each time it is updated? Secondly, is it possible to have the file that is on DBox sync to the one on the PC if I change the Dbox file from my phone?61Views0likes4CommentsHow to format an external SSD to APFS?
Hi, Dropbox Community. I want to move all my Dropbox folders and files to a new external SSD attached to my MacBook Pro (High Sierra 10.13.6). I had to use the “Disk Utility” on my Mac to erase the format type “MacOS Extended (Journaled)” because of the error “Unsupported File System.” Erase was successful. But, now I’m stuck. How do I format the external SSD to APFS? What are the steps? Thank you for your kind attention. I look forward to hearing from you.21Views0likes1CommentWhy was the way screenshots were handled changed?
Me and my friends question what drove the people behind this software to break something intentionally like that? I work as a Quality Assurance expert, and can only see this change as sabotage. When I press "PrtSc" I want the image to be copied into my clipboard. The fact that it was saved into the screenshots folder wasn't always desired, but I could deal with it (always cleaned up that folder once a month). But now that doesn't happen. I get so many extra steps, and if I opt out of it, I'm left with nothing. Sure, I could just install a different software for making screenshots, but that seems so stupid to do, given what worked before!69Views1like6Comments
