I went from a iPhone 11 to a iPhone 16 Pro a few months ago. I backed up photos to Dropbox before I moved everything to the new phone. Had issues with the new phone and Apple had me do a full factory reset, and then I was only able to download certain (minimal) apps from my cloud, to prevent the new phone from picking up anything old that might have caused the issues. This shouldn't affect my Dropbox app, since that is a separate cloud. But now when I back up photos, it is scanning my ENTIRE library of photos, which is many years worth, it seems, and it seems to want to download all of these photos, most of which are already in my Dropbox. I went to settings to see if selecting "Back up/New photos only" would solve this issue, but it only identifies new photos as of today, not the past couple of months since I got this phone. But then I looked at what's in my Camera Uploads folder, and there are photos from as recent as early December, but not current. With my old phone, Dropbox would only grab the new photos since last upload. So what am I doing wrong here?34Views0likes8CommentsCan you selectively sync only selected folders and leave the other folders alone?
Can you change Dropbox to Selectively sync only selected folders AND a switch to give an option to leave the other folders alone, still on the local PC under folder Dropbox. At present unticked folders in Selective sync are DELETED locally. The reason for this request is to reduce computer CPU & memory use which is excessive if are syncing 1.5Tb and 1,000s of files. I need all folders present all the time and a fast computer without having to disable Antivirus.11Views0likes3CommentsI can't move my Dropbox folder on to an external hard drive; I get the error it's not compatible.
Just bought (Nov 2024) a 14TB Seagate External drive with the intention of moving my Dropbox folder off my PC's C: drive over to the external drive. When I followed the method to do this per the Dropbox website I got a warning message that the Seagate was not compatible with Dropbox. I checked the Seagate's properties and it says the file system is exFAT. What should I do? Any help appreciated. Thank You.31Views0likes3CommentsGet an option to prioritize syncing for folders on the desktop app.
Dropbox currently has an option to prioritize which files to sync first. I'd like to extend that to provide the same functionality for selected folders. This will be particularly helpful in migrating to new equipment but also when changing a large amount of content. Can do?36Views1like2CommentsHome destroyed in LA fires, need help picking a plan to log purchases
Hi, I have to coordinate among 3 total family members the sharing of storage. Basically, we have iPhones and MacBooks. Our house was just destroyed by fire. I am looking for an efficient way to track our purchases for goods and services for eventual reimbursement by our insurance company. Example: I buy clothing, my wife buys a jacket, my daughter buys a sweater. Receipts of all of these separate purchases could be uploaded to various Dropbox folders so that we could track them by category and eventually put them into an accounting document for submission to the insurance company. What dropbox account would work the most efficiently and easily for this type of family coordination and sharing? Any other organizational ideas for managing the data for sharing with the insurance company would be greatly appreciated.13Views0likes1CommentI can't sync folders to my computer after my hard drive crashed
My hard drive containing the folders mapped to my local drive was broken, so I reinstalled Dropbox on another hard drive on my computer. But when I wanted to remap the folders to the local file explorer, there was a problem. Specifically, I wanted to map the folders to the local drive and save the data to the cloud, but I couldn't do it. I could only download the data to the local hard drive to see the folders saved in the cloud in the local file explorer; that is, I couldn't "save data only to the cloud" when I right-clicked my mouse. I use a Windows 10 laptop, and my email account is in a family group.12Views0likes1CommentDropbox not syncing even after reinstalling
So here's a doozy. I've recently reinstalled my windows. My Dropbox folder was on a secondary drive, so didn't get formatted. I have reinstalled Dropbox, and pointed it to the old dropbox folder. It spent a few days indexing, and decided then that it needed to upload and download a bunch of files. This is all fine, but it's not actually _doing_ that. It just knows that the files have to be done, adding new files will up the counter, but it's not doing anything. I can sometimes click on the icon in the bottom right corner and it'll suddenly go to 75 kbps, jumping down to 20 and then back to nothing (just no speed indicator at all) I've reset ownership, i've reinstalled the application. I'm at a loss. I've been googling for a few days now, trying loads of suggestions from this forum but i cannot figure it out. Who can help me? Dropbox was working fine before i reinstalled.Solved762Views0likes6CommentsDropped a file into my Dropbox folder and don't know how to get it out

I recently switched to Linux from Windows and was looking to have my Dropbox accessible on my desktop. I installed the app direct from the website, and the app looks like its from the early 2000's. I also like to keep a copy of my files offline, through an external desktop expansion, that is synced with the cloud. However, there is no ability (on Linux) to be able to select the sync destination on your computer to be on a different drive than your original one. The Linux version of Dropbox desperately needs to be updated with modern and basic functionality64Views0likes6Comments
