Shared Folders
778 TopicsMy Public folder is no longer being shared to everyone, why?
I have been using DropBox for over 10 years ... but recently things have changed, in W11 seems very different. For example, I have a public folder .. and I set this to be available to all to view ... and its subfolders & contents, been working fine. Now the 'Public' folder is set to only me ..... plus contacts are limited, how can I reset it to be available to anyone When people try to access any file in it they get a message that they need approval. How do I set the folder AND all of its subfolders AND contents to be available? Hello everyone! One of my colleagues made a shared folder for me that I was supposed to put all my data in for my master's project. He recently moved away and deleted his Dropbox account. He meant to migrate all his data off the Dropbox before doing this but he missed my folder. He never transferred ownership to me or anything. He still has the email his account was associated with. I have Dropbox Basic, I believe he had Dropbox Basic as well. Now the folder is empty and all my files are gone. The only trace of them existing is in the "events" page where it shows when I uploaded and edited files. It has the file names but I can't do anything to access them. Looking in the "Activity" section of my folder I can see that on November 14th all of my files were deleted by the Dropbox Server at the same time. The files were locally on my computer as well, in the Dropbox folder that appears on the Windows 10 file explorer. They also were all deleted from there. Is there any way I can recover these files? I really, really would like to get them back as this data is important to my project and is irreplaceable. I had no idea that this could happen, and I did not expect the files to be deleted off my computer.11Views0likes1CommentBanderas de carpetas compartidas
Utilizo Windows 11. Alguien le sucede lo mismo ¡? Desde ya les agradezco la ayuda.11Views0likes0CommentsTwo people icon on a folder that is not shared
Hi everyone, I need some help clarifying an issue with a folder on my Dropbox account. Here’s the situation: I have a root folder that I haven’t shared with anyone, and when I check the sharing and access settings, it confirms that I’m the only person with access. Specifically: Under “Manage Access” and “Share,” it says, “Only me.” There are no shared links created for the folder. The folder settings are configured so that only I, as the owner, can add members or change link settings. However, the folder icon still shows the two silhouettes of people (the shared folder icon), even though I’ve removed all access. The subfolders within this root folder are shared and appropriately display the shared folder icon, but the root folder shouldn’t be shared with anyone. I’m wondering if this is: A glitch with the folder icon, or A setting I might have overlooked that’s causing it to show as shared. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there something specific I should check to ensure the root folder isn’t unintentionally shared? Thanks in advance for your help!58Views0likes9CommentsCan my daughter use part of my Dropbox?
Hi there I have an 10 year old kid, and set her up with her own DB. However, the moment I shared a folder with her (which has photos and videos from an event she went to) it reached 2.1GB and maxed out. I have a 2TB account and just want to be able to let her use part of MY DB to store her pics and videos. She's too young to have her own account really. I can't move to a Family account as that would be a lot less space than I am currently using in mine (I have over a decade of content in it). Is there any way to make a folder which I can share with her, and she uses my storage space and not hers?23Views0likes3CommentsA folder that I'm sharing with my wife has gone missing.
Dear all, Today is discovered that a shared folder I was using togehter with my wife vanished. Looking through the event page, I see an entry for November 18th,sataing "You have removedyour own access to the folder". Now, for my wife, I find the same message, even hough she is the owner of that folder. Nothing is shown in my deleted files section in the dropbox web app either. How can I get our files back?? Best regards43Views0likes4CommentsWas added to a shared folder but can't upload files because I have a Basic account
I was added to a shared folder to upload footage to, so I created an account to gain access, but when uploading it says that I am on a basic plan and capped at 2GB. My client has upgraded the plan, but mine says I am still on basic, do I have to upgrade my own plan to upload to his folder?35Views0likes3CommentsChoose location for folders shared with me?
When files or folders are shared with me, they are automatically placed in the default shared location. However, for organizational purposes and to maintain consistency within my existing project directories, it would be highly beneficial to have the ability to specify the location where shared folders are stored. This functionality would allow me to directly nest shared folders within the relevant project directories, streamlining my workflow and ensuring all related files are easily accessible in one place.Solved36Views0likes5CommentsIssue when trying to share and unshare folders
Hi. I am handing down my old laptop to my son. For that purpose, I want to 'unshare' one of my personal folders that is on it, and share his own folder on it. I can't seem to do it properly. Would appreciate a walk through. ( I tried sharing, and then approving on his email, but I don't see his folder and get a message that he is out of space. even though I have an upgraded account).15Views0likes1Comment
