Setting up the apps
1671 TopicsDesktop app: no internet connection/ can't connect on Windows device.
I became aware that my Dropbox app stopped synchronizing two days ago. After trying several things I did an advanced de-install. Then installing again with the 'offline installer'. The normal one didn't work, because it said there was no internet connection. The connection was all the time established and even with the firewall off, it didn't work. The app is now installed, but still tries to make a connection. I found a lot of posts with connection problems, but nothing helped to me. Please advice.44Views0likes3CommentsDropbox Migration to a New Mac With the New Cloud Storage Setup
On my primary computer, I keep all Dropbox files in offline mode. I've updated to the new Dropbox setup that places the Dropbox folder in ~/Library/CloudStorage. I'm wondering what will happen when I move to a new Mac in the future. In the past, the macOS transfer program would transfer all my files to the new computer's drive, and then Dropbox would reindex them (rather than having to redownload all the files from Dropbox). What will happen now with the new Dropbox setup? Thanks.Solved6.4KViews1like26CommentsDropbox desktop app not working on MacOS Sonoma 14.5
my desktop app stopped working, when I click the home icon it continually says "connecting components" without ever getting there. any changes I make to files on my desktop are not visible in the online webpage or on the app on other devices. I have deleted and reinstalled the program multiple times to no avail. I am running macOS Sonoma 14.5 and the current dropbox installation is version 204.4.5420.297Views0likes2CommentsRun dropbox media in the background
Hey everyone, I just switched to an Android from an iPhone. I am facing a feature problem that I loved on my iPhone! Which is, if I open up an audio file from my dropbox app I can just do other stuff on my phone. On android however, it stops playing whenever I switch over to a different app. Is there a way to let it run in the background just like the iPhone? Thanks!3.2KViews1like8CommentsMoved my "user" folders from C: to D: and my Dropbox location also to D: but Dropbox backup fails
Hi, I've just moved all my user folders (Documents, Music, Pictures etc..) from the C: drive to D:. I've copied the same path format (eg. C:\Users\smartmove77\Documents is now D:\Users\smartmove77\Documents). I have then changed my dropbox location to the 😧 drive. I have tried to setup the Dropbox Backup function but when I choose all the folders it's showing the following: Strangely the Pictures directory appears to be accepted but all the others are not. How do I proceed from here? Many thanks.130Views0likes3CommentsHow can I choose an existing Dropbox folder on my new installation?
I'm a new user and I've installed dropbox now, so I want to specify an existing folder, but I can't choose, always dropbox creates a new folder, in any folder I choose. Is it possible to change so that I can choose my existing folder?127Views1like2CommentsUnlink Dropbox on laptop and relink to another account (OSX)
I am logged into a dropbox account on my laptop (desktop app) and should leave this account to connect to an other account. When I sign out of the first account under preferences in the desktop app, the app closes. When opening the app again, I'm automatically logged into the same account again. How can I connect to the second account? Even de-installing and re-installing the desktop app did not fix this. Any idea why this happens and how to solve it? Thanks for all your input, TomSolved200Views0likes6CommentsThe Dropbox desktop app is stuck on starting on Mac OS
I can't get past the "starting..." stage on the DB app. I've uninstalled, cleared everything related to DB from my computer, downloaded fresh, installed again. Everything I can think of. Always, the menu bar icon stays gray and the pulldown shows "Starting..." I've let it sit for days, no luck. I can get to my account via dropbox.com as usual. It's the app that's not working. I've unlinked the account and relinked it. I must be missing something. FWIW, this happens on both my Macbook Pros, a new M3 and an M1. And I've read old messages about this problem... so, a new query. Ideas please?1.1KViews0likes22Comments
