Referrals
160 TopicsI referred a friend to Dropbox, but their referral has been marked as ineligible.
I referred to my friend but it shows referral ineligible. Could Support team add back my referral free storage bonus to my account? It seems my friend didn't know that he has to sign-up through my invite link and he just signed up by himself right after he got the email about the referral. He removed his account now but wish we can get the ineligible status wiped away and claim the free storage bonus to our accounts. Thanks in advance team!36Views0likes3CommentsReferral marked “Ineligible” despite full compliance.
Hi Dropbox Team, I’m reaching out regarding an issue with your referral system — and this is now the second time I’ve experienced it. Recently, I referred a colleague sitting next to me at work. She followed the exact steps: She clicked my referral link. She created a completely new Dropbox account with a previously unused company email. She installed the Dropbox app on her own desktop computer, which had never had Dropbox installed before, and signed in. We work at the same company, so while we might share an external IP, we use separate desktop computers with different internal IPs. Despite this, her referral status is listed as “Ineligible.” Since I’ve experienced this same issue before with another legitimate referral, I’m beginning to feel concerned about how the system is evaluating valid cases like ours. I truly value Dropbox and have been recommending it to people around me. But when these referrals are consistently flagged, it becomes difficult to maintain confidence in the process — and frankly, it's embarrassing. I’d really appreciate it if someone could take a closer look at this particular referral and clarify why it may have been marked ineligible. If there’s a technical reason, I’d love to understand it better to avoid similar issues in the future. Thanks in advance for your time and support.34Views0likes1CommentIf I upgrade and later on downgrade, do I keep my referral space?
I was thinking of upgrading to Dropbox Plus. 2TB seems like a good amount of space! However, if the price goes up a lot, would I then be able to downgrade back to basic and keep my referral space? I have 8GB built up over the years and I assume I'd lose that.26Views0likes3CommentsI sent a referral to one of my students, but it's once again ineligible.
Sorry to have to raise a similar issue again. As promised, I am continuing to recommend Dropbox to my students and their parents, and now sending the referrals via my Referrals page. Today I recommended Dropbox to one of my students, while he was here with his laptop, so I could see and make sure that everything was done right. He had never installed or used Dropbox before. He clicked on my referral link and successfully installed the App. He tried to verify his account, but received an error message, saying that ''Something went wrong." My Referrals page shows his status as "Ineligible." I would be grateful if you could track down what went wrong this time and let me know? I am happy to forward a capture of the emails and error message... Thank you.37Views0likes5CommentsThe referral I sent to my friend has been marked as ineligible.
Hi everyone, I'm still encountering an issue with a Dropbox friend referral where I'm trying to earn the 500MB bonus storage. I sent the invitation back in 2016. The referral was marked as "ineligible," and I initially considered it might be due to shared computer access, but I can now confirm that the friend I invited did not install or log in to Dropbox on the same computer I used to send the invitation. Given this new information, I'm trying to understand why the referral might still be ineligible. Here are my updated questions: 1. Could the age of the invitation (sent in 2016) be a factor in the referral's ineligibility now? Are there expiration dates or limitations on older referral links? 2. What are the specific steps a referred friend needs to take to ensure the referral is successful and I receive the 500MB bonus under the current program? 3. If the issue isn't related to a shared computer, what are some other common reasons for referral ineligibility that I should consider? 4. Is it possible that the referral program terms or the bonus amount offered in 2016 were different and are no longer valid? 5. Should I try sending a new referral invitation to the same friend now? Would that have a better chance of being successful under the current program? Any insights into how the referral program has evolved since 2016 or common pitfalls to avoid would be greatly appreciated. As a Basic user, direct email support options seem limited, so I'm hoping the community can offer some guidance. Thanks in advance for your help!94Views0likes7CommentsI sent referrals to my colleagues, but they're ineligible for all of them.
Dear Dropbox Support Center! I have been using dropbox for a long time, it is very convenient to use when traveling. Recently, I introduced the application to my colleagues at the company, but when they installed it on their computers, they all reported that my referral was invalid and no one got an increase in free storage. There is a mistake here, I hope the support team can check it for me Thank you!66Views0likes7CommentsI invited a friend using a referral, but it shows as ineligible.
Hi. I've invited friend with an invitation link from my account. My friend used that link, logged in in website, and then logged in on computer. And yet, her account is listed on my invitation lists as "ineligible". What is wrong? She didn't have an account connected to that e-mail address. She had one older Dropbox account (with different email) and decided to make a new one from my invitation link. From website help: Ineligible: The recipient is ineligible for the referral program. This may mean that the recipient already has an account with Dropbox, or that the recipient is attempting to register with the same computer as you. If you feel this status is inaccurate, double-check the email address of your recipient to try again. But none of those conditions are met... What are exact requirements for an email not to be ineligible?81Views0likes8Comments
