You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.
Folder/File Automation and Tagging improvements
Add logic to automations via file tags "if file tagged X, rename file with Y". "if file tagged X, convert the file to a different format". "if file tagged X, resize the current image file". "if file tagged X, perform any other automation actions". "if file tagged X (on upload) put a copy of it in folders Y, W and Z" Every file should have a tag associated with it by default when its uploaded via mobile or desktop. We could then build all of our automations based off file tags, regardless of what folder a file is in. Right now its the other way around, automations are built on folders, not the files themselves.
Folder Customization - Colors, Icons, and More
Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could customize our Dropbox folders to make them more visually appealing and easier to organize? I think adding more options to personalize folders could make a big difference, and I’d love to hear what others think about this idea! Here are a few features I’d suggest: Folder Colors: Imagine being able to color-code your folders—so much easier to spot what you need at a glance! Custom Icons: A simple icon, like a music note for your playlists or a book for your eBooks, could make folders feel more intuitive. This icon could be applied to the already existing folder image, or replace the folder with just an icon. Upload Your Own Images: Personalize your workspace with photos or unique images as folder covers—practical and fun! These tweaks wouldn’t just look great; they’d make organizing and navigating files so much smoother. Plus, other platforms already offer similar options, and it would be awesome to see Dropbox join in! Use image EXIF for Dropbox tags and/or captions
Hello, is it possible for Dropbox to read EXIF in images? It would be great for images that require a caption along with tags. Also, it would be very very appreciated if third parties for Wordpress would be able to show these captions and tags with a simple code.
Quicker and effortless way of uploading large data
I got raw video data about 5 TB (mostly large video files 1+ GB) saved in two external drives. I started uploading data in my account but it's taking long (which is expected). Currently uploading files individually (one by one or if smaller size then in group of 4-5) and drag to the dashboard of folder where I want to upload that. And keeping record of what's been uploaded on a separate word file. I am wondering if there is any quicker way to upload or any tips? Thanks!Add Folder Sorting by Creation Date
