One of my team members updated to a new computer and now she cannot see any previews for photos that are online only. It is important for our workflow to see the image previews online only becausee we work with thousands of images in our catalogs. I am on an older Mac but both of us are on the same OS (15.3) and I can see previews no problem. Contacted DB support and they did not fix the issue. Tried a "hard reinstall" as supposed by DB support but did not work. They are not offering any other help which is very disappointing considering how many licenses we pay for. Anyone else able to fix this issue? Thanks in advance for your help!110Views0likes7CommentsA Dropbox icon has replaced the Desktop and Documents icons on macOS
I have Dropbox latest client installed in MacOS. I don't use the Dropbox backup features for desktop or documents - however it has still taken over these icons in the Finder navigation bar. I've tried removing Dropbox, but as soon as I reinstall, the icons revert back. Does anyone know how to clear / prevent Dropbox from taking over these icons in the Finder navigation bar?61Views0likes9CommentsFiles that I update on my Mac don't sync online.
In the last couple of weeks, local files that I work on are not syncing online. If they do, it is extremely slow. My internet is fine. I am on a Mac as well. I work synchronously with others on these files, so it's a bit concerning that they may not be working on my most recent versions. I have been using dropbox for over 8 years.39Views0likes5CommentsDropbox won't show me the option to make content "available offline".
have installed Dropbox on two MacBooks. On the first one, I can download folders and make them available offline. However, this isn't working on this MacBook Air. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled Dropbox. Dropbox has full disk access on this laptop. What is going wrong, and how can I resolve this?398Views0likes23CommentsEnable create and rename folders/files on MacOS Dropbox application for admin users
After a recent dropbox update, at the top level, admin users are unable to create and rename files on their desktop dropbox application for Mac users (OS version: Sequoia 15.3.2). This slight change has made it more of a hassle to use the desktop app, it makes it appear obsolete to be honest. My team needs a number of folders to created frequently as we get new cases quite frequently. After the new update, as the admin user, I have to navigate to my web browser in order to create a folder and then come back to my desktop app to add all the relevant documents into that folder. If I make a mistake in the name of the folder, I can't change the name of the folder I have to go back to web browser, find the folder and then change it from there. It is such that even as an admin user on my computer, when I go to unlock the folder at the top level to give me read and write access, it automatically switches back as it is something that has been enabled from the software and not the user end. I could see the justification for having this restriction for non-admin users but for admin users whose job description requires the creation and modification of top level files, it has added an additional step in work flow that is cumbersome. In the past, all these could be done directly from the desktop app. I would like to request that the feature be put back as it was. The new change is not user friendly at all.40Views1like2CommentsThe Dropbox icon on my Mac only opens the Dropbox folder and I can't get to the preferences
I have been having issues with my dropbox syncing across devices - I think there is an issue in my selective sync. However, everytime I attempt to open the dropbox desktop application on my mac, it only opens the finder folder. I have no options to go to dropbox setting or preferences from there.44Views0likes5CommentsOneDrive backup icons for Desktop and Documents folders change to Dropbox icons on Mac
Hi everyone, I'm experiencing an issue with Dropbox on my MacBook Pro. I have my Desktop and Documents folders synced to OneDrive, but after installing Dropbox, the icons for these folders in Finder's sidebar change to the Dropbox icon. I'm not syncing these folders with Dropbox, only with OneDrive. I've been in touch with Dropbox Support, but the solutions provided so far haven't worked. Here are some of the steps I've tried: Force quitting Dropbox: Using Activity Monitor to force quit all instances of Dropbox and then restarting the app. Removing and re-adding folders: Right-clicking on the affected folders in Finder's sidebar, removing them, and then dragging them back from their original locations. Restarting Finder: Relaunching Finder after quitting Dropbox. Despite these attempts, the issue persists. Has anyone else encountered this problem and found a solution? Thanks in advance for your help!13Views0likes1CommentThe Dropbox right-click options are gone from my Mac's Finder.
My files are all in the cloud. This restricts things I can do on my Mac; I can't preview or upload to the web, for example (which I want to do often). I thought one used to be able to right click in the Finder and make a particular folder available offline. But that's missing on my Mac. Right clicking in a Dropbox folder reveals nothing connected to Dropbox. Otherwise, files function and sync if opened and modified as normal. The Dropbox icon at the top right of the Mac screen is visible and seems to be functioning normally. Can right clicking in the Finder be turned on somehow? I have the option to make all Dropbox files available offline in Dropbox preferences, but I don't want all of the files—just some of them.352Views0likes25CommentsI changed my user name after installing the Dropbox app and now it won't launch
I have a new laptop (MacBook Air - M4), running the latest Sequoia. I migrated everything over from my former system, which included Dropbox. Day-1, all was running fine. Day-2, I needed to change the names of the System Users. I followed the instructions from Apple, which includes changing the home folder name in "Users" and then the corresponding account name field(s) in System Settings, Users & Groups, The home folder path on Day-1, with the original name, was /Users/keri_1/ On Day-2 -- after the renaming -- the new (& current) home folder path is /Users/keri/ Now when I launch DropBox, it is looking for this path to grant permissions: /Users/keri_1/.dropbox and immediately gives the message that "Dropbox needs to change permissions for the Folder: /Users/keri_1/.dropbox" which it cannot find since that path name no longer exists. Clicking OK, the next message I get is "Couldn't start Dropbox" and it shuts down. How do I get DropBox to correct the path it is trying to use? I have contacted Support and we have exchanged several emails, including some Terminal commands to run, which did not correct this issue.Solved35Views0likes2Comments
