As for me, synchronization of folders via the application is done a little inconveniently and not even clear, and in fact it does not exist.. Let me explain what I mean: I would like to right-click on the folder that I want to synchronize with the folder from the hard drive, so that synchronization works automatically when adding files to this folder.. Why should I transfer files every time that I want to be in the cloud, it is inconvenient and you need to constantly spend time on this.. Let synchronization work for me..!! I think it is very convenient and, first of all, a function that saves time..!!33Views0likes1CommentHow to remain ineligible for "new Dropbox for macos on File Provider"
Luckily, I managed to still be ineligible for macos on File Provider, and I would like to keep it that way. How do I make sure I do not become eligible and keep the ~/Dropbox location, in my home folder? I have set my default to Available Offline and choose Selective Sync for folders that should remain on Dropbox. Is that a successful configuration towards my goal? Are there any complexitiesI could add to make sure I'm the last one to become eligible? Uncountable things would break if I were to wake up to "your Dropbox folder is now in ~/Library/MobileSomething". Thanks a lot16Views0likes1CommentOn Mac Sequoia Finder does not find Dropbox files
Hi everyone! On my Mac I have a Dropbox folder which is automatically synchronized with my Dropbox online. I move may files from my Mac into that folder. I see the files in my Mac's Dropbox folder, and I know they are also in Dropbox in the cloud. The problem is that when I search in the Mac's finder, I cannot find the files. I can find them when I search via the menu bar app icon and find the files that way, but it's not convenient, I have to then select "show in finder". Before I could search in the finder directly for the files and the Finder would find the files in the Dropbox folder. What has changed? Why can't my Finder find files which are in my Mac's Dropbox folder?7Views0likes0Commentsread-only file/folders, write with password
It would enhance ransomware protection if folders or files could be marked as "read-only", where only a change/rename/erasure is password protected. Read-only is supported for teams, the request is for individual users. Password protection is also available but is for any access - which makes it uncomfortable when reading data; In my case, and I assume for many private users, 99% of the data is never changed once uploaded - family pictures, documents etc. Motivation is to enhance protection in case an unauthorized party got access to your account and has the ability to erase your data - such as a virus or ransomware attack. So the aim is not privacy - it is erasure protection, while not complicating everyday viewing with a password for every read.13Views0likes0CommentsA collection of issues
Over the years I've lost some HDs to crashes and I tend to be lazy since these days you can take millions of photos and videos then just dump them on the cloud to never check them out later because you have too many things going on. Such is the case with a HD which was starting to give me some issues. It was nearly full and many of my files had become corrupted. So I started to move the files off the local drive, which included my Dropbox folder. I tried redirecting Dropbox to the new drive, but it kept stopping the sync. I believe because the existing drive was having problems/was nearly full. I was able to restore all but one folder from other backups. In this folder, even though I have Admin rights and ownership, I get an error code (which has been posted here before) Error 0x80070780. All the files have a storage carton icon in the lower left (meaning they are accessed through the cloud (no local storage). All the files show 0 bytes (on disk) the local drive. You can see the size of what the file is supposed to be if it were there. When I go into Dropbox, there is no folder of this name. There are no files of these names. I have checked the trashbin, but it is empty. I've looked through all folders, and this one folder and the 74 items in it can not be found. I'm going to assume that there was a sync issue, but I'm confused why Dropbox doesn't have the folder anywhere on the cloud. What is odd is on the local drive, the folder was created 05/10/2020. All the files inside the folder were dated 09/29/2017. Accessed is 12/16/24. I am not running Dropbox locally because it keeps trying to sync the cloud with my old drive. As I mentioned, I have restored the files (except this folder) and don't want to redirect Dropbox to the new drive just yet, because I didn't want to cause further problems. So I'll wait to see what response I get from tech support. Any assistance would be appreciated.12Views0likes0CommentsSlow response using Dropbox for Python
Hello, My python code has been working well for months. Within the past 48 hours, the files_download command in the snippet below (with tokens obfuscated) has started to take about 45 seconds while previously it was instantaneous. It is the last line that is the culprit. import dropbox DROPBOX_APP_KEY = "?????" DROPBOX_APP_SECRET = "?????" DROPBOX_REFRESH_TOKEN = "????" dbx = dropbox.Dropbox(app_key=DROPBOX_APP_KEY, app_secret=DROPBOX_APP_SECRET, oauth2_refresh_token=DROPBOX_REFRESH_TOKEN) metadata, f = dbx.files_download('/alerts.csv') Any suggestions? With thanks, David119Views0likes6CommentsFile ID is not unique
I have several instances, where File ID is not unique in my Dropbox account. Below is two sets of metadata including “id”, “name”, “path_display”, “size”, “rev”, “content_hash”, “server_modified” from two different files. Filenames, paths and file sizes are different, but the first field with file id is the same. The metadata is extracted with a python script. I can send the script if needed. How can different files have identical file Ids in same account? It makes file movements and downloads based on file ID a risky action. id:hHMoQrtHqVAAAAAAAAB3ig Credenza assembly R2.stp /FORM 3D Archive/frattini/in progress/cb2, frattini, fall 2022/Office/Credenza/Drawings/Credenza assembly R2.stp 975538 015eca3c02fec960000000280bb3010 63e26b666254d76318fb0328b5999d992017c65fc2a0696b0cbf4e38d0daf832 04/11/2022 11.55.31 id:hHMoQrtHqVAAAAAAAAB3Ig Room Divider Assembly R1.stp /FORM 3D Archive/frattini/in progress/cb2, frattini, spring 2023/grid construction room divider/Drawings/Room Divider Assembly R1.stp 893028 5d6e306a534f872420641 1d9d0ed10006c9d47e259bed31d6968ce0c3f2e0ad1a6c52dc9401e94ee4c367 31/01/2022 16.10.40Solved44Views0likes3CommentsI signed into my account and all my photos are gone
A few months ago I received a message from Dropbox that if I didn't sign into my account all my photos would be deleted. My Dropbox was full and I hadn't added any photos for quite some time but did want to save them. So I signed in, updated my email address and looked through all the photos. I thought that was all I had to do. This week I got a similar email stating I needed to do something because my Dropbox was full. So I signed in and to my big surprise all the photos were gone! Is there any way Dropbox can restore these photos or am I screwed?41Views0likes6Comments
