I'm trying to understand why a file called "Dropbox" just appeared on my iMac desktop. It looks like a text file, but can't be opened. Clicking on it results in the following message: "Item Dropbox is used my MacOS and can't be opened." When I "get info" on the file, it's 780 bytes. I have been rearranging some dropbox files on this computer, and just installed Dropbox on another computer. Perhaps it's related to that. Don't know if it's relevant or not, but all my files are offline as well as online It appears to be a placeholder but I've been using Dropbox for years, and haven't seen this before. Any ideas are much appreciated. Marty7Views0likes0CommentsCannot upgrade to business because subscription is managed by Apple App Store
Hi, we would like to upgrade from Plus to Business. The current Plus subscription has managed by the Apple App Store. We already cancelled the subscription there and it is already expired (as of 2024-11-19). However, it is still not possible to upgrade to business because it still claims that the subscription is managed by Apple App Store. Does anyone have an idea what else we can do to upgrade the account to Business without the use of the apple app store but directly from the Dropbox page? Thank you very much and best regards - RichardWhat is the best way to sync large files efficiently across devices in Dropbox?
What’s the best way to sync large files across multiple devices in Dropbox without running into storage limits or slow upload speeds? Are there specific settings or features that can help optimize this process?Solved426Views0likes3CommentsI put all files available offline, but Dropbox doesn't download them.
Hi! I recently bought a new Macbook and wanted to sync my files to my new computer. Unfortunately, I am unable to download all the files. They are mostly kept in the cloud. I changed the preferences to offline in the Dropbox settings, but this did nothing. What to do? I need to have all my files available offline, because the cloud version prevents me from searching files and file contents via Spotlight and browsing through pictures is a drag. I have the latest Dropbox, 2TB subscription, Macbook M3 Pro, all the latest updates.651Views0likes9CommentsWhat happens to my storage once I cancel my plan? What will be my quota?
Hello, I am currently using a free plan with approximately 22GB of storage and am considering upgrading to the ‘Dropbox Plus’ plan. I have a question: if I cancel my subscription in the future, will my free storage space revert to the ~22GB I currently have, or will it be reduced to the standard 2GB? Thank you in advance for your help.Solved26Views0likes3CommentsDefault PDF viewer on iPad
Is there a way to change the default PDF viewer in the Dropbox App for the iPad? When I click on "Open in" in a PDF, it only shows the option of Adobe, but I use PDF Expert. (In contrast, on my Mac, when I double click on a PDF in my Dropbox folder, it automatically opens in PDF Expert). If I can't change the default PDF viewer to PDF Expert on the iPad, what is the easiest way to open a PDF from Dropbox in PDF Expert? (Of course I already know that I can start IN PDF Expert and open Dropbox files there from Dropbox, which I have linked to it; but this is for when I happen to have begun from the Dropbox iPad app instead.)30Views0likes1CommentCan't create MS Word docs in Dropbox anymore
I'm a long-term user of Dropbox and I love it's use ability and function. To my dismay, in the past year or so I seem to have lost the ability to create Microsoft Word documents in Dropbox. This is a feature I used regularly, and now it seems to be a long and clumsy process. Let me explain how it used to work and now doesn't. I would go into Dropbox on my Android phone, Select the folder I wanted to create the Microsoft Word document in and then Select the "Plus Symbol" found in the blue circle :blue_circle: found floating on lower right hand corner (that option is still there) after selecting the Plus Sign we are presented with an option to "Create or upload file" After selecting that option, I would be presented with a drop-down list of files I could create. These would include the 3 native Dropbox options of "Paper" "Text File" & 'Upload Files" as well as a list of Microsoft file types, which included MS Word & Excel and maybe PowerPoint. I would then select MS Word, and a MS Word document would be created and MS Word App would be seamlessly be activated and away I would go, creating content and saving it safely in Dropbox. Happy days! Now unfortunately when I select "Create or upload file" only the 3 native Dropbox options appear, no longer can I select a Microsoft Document type. I'm not sure why this change has occurred, and there is a work around I've found, but it's clumsy and time consuming and certainly doesn't have the elegance of what I was used to with seamless integration and function. My question is, how can I get the elegant integrated "create" MS Word option/ solution in Dropbox back, I don't want a clumsy work around.491Views0likes7CommentsDropbox seems to be corrupting files…..
I’m afraid we’re are migrating away from Dropbox, however whilst doing so we have noticed the following issue…. (Windows 11 – Latest Dropbox Version). Hence we though this may be useful. Most of our 2TB files are stored as “Online” only using Selective Sync. We then change the file status to “Available offline” so Dropbox copies(sync’s) the files back to the local disk from Dropbox.com. After some time (several hours) the Dropbox app confirms that all files are sync’d and the Dropbox task bar icon also indicates a complete/no activity status. The PC is rebooted and Dropbox is then uninstalled When trying to view via the PC the now sync’d Zip, Jpeg, Docx some of the files are corrupted/won’t open. As a test using Dropbox.com we manually download a problem file using MS Edge and the files will open correctly. It would seem that the Windows Dropbox client indicates it has finished its jobs even through it hasn’t fully completed syncing … We've also noticed that the corrupted file vs good file byte size are the same. We could duplicate this fault. Any thoughts ?6.3KViews0likes17Comments
