When I am using Dropbox in my browser, every time I delete a file or folder I get a little black bar popup notification that tells me I just deleted a file or folder. But I already know that. I have to click Close to get rid of it. I know it goes away, but I never want to see it in the first place. The option to Undo could be handy, but couldn't it be something less annoying than a popup (distracting, and blocks the view of whatever is beneath it)?11Views0likes1Comment10 years of files are gone, after joining a Team.
I have used Dropbox for 10 years with company backups etc. recently someone added my email to their team so I could access their files too - but then they deleted me when the job was over and my entire Dropbox is gone. My account is even gone as when I logged in, it made me re-register. I have all my company accounts, tax files, 10 years of backups etc. I need them back. If I am audited I am totally screwed. When they added me to their team, there was still a folder called ‘Renaes files’ that had all of my personal stuff and the company one was separate. How did they delete my files? Where would they be?27Views0likes1CommentAfter formatting my computer I cannot access my files.
I formatted my computer. Then I re-installed Dropbox. I got a message that I must pay for extra space, which I did, but now I cannot access my files and don't find a way to load them or see them online. They dissapeared also from my phone. I do see the additional space I payed for. Please help, anyone18Views0likes1CommentAfter a system restore, it seems that I now have two Dropbox folders. Can I delete 1?
After messing about with file restore, I ended up having to run system restore to undo my poking. This has left me with 2 copies of Dropbox 1 renamed to Dropbox (Old), all the files appear to be there in both, so Can I just delete 1? and if so does it matter which. Cheers Bill20Views0likes2CommentsCan't restore a deleted folder. Error: "There was a problem completing this request".
So I deleted a folder, but somehow dropbox deleted the one next to it. Now I can only find that deleted folder under: in the browser, its not in the deleted files part of it. Whenever i double click that folder, and try to restore it it says: There was a problem completing this request. I never touched this folder, dropbox bugged out and deleted the wrong one, and now i cant seem to restore it. Not in different browsers, not a teammate, nothing. Why does it also not show up in the deleted files part of dropbox?I can't use Shift + delete for my folders due to new "delete for everyone" pop-up message.
I am unable to shift+delete any folder inside my dropbox folder so I can skip the recycling bin. This seems to be connected to this new popup about asking if I'm sure I want to delete for everyone. Which is very strange, because this is NOT in a folder I've shared with anyone else. Any ideas on how to fix this? Or how I can report this to Dropbox directly?Solved109Views0likes16CommentsHave camera uploads not change the original filenames and delete files when removed from phone.
I'd suggest to develop a better system for saving camera uploads in the cloud. Currently, the system only uploads pictures from your phone as they are, changing the name as an uploaded file. It would be better if it leaves the original names of the files in your devices. Additionally, it would be better to have it working as a security copy, in such a way that if a delete a picture from my device, it is also erased in my security copy or back up in Dropbox. Because currently my Dropbox uploads is getting extremely full with useless pictures from WhatsApp chats. So if I delete them from my phone I also have to delete them from the file in Dropbox, making it double work.13Views0likes1Commentcomment enlever l'accès à mon compte à Google?
I've tried to delete a few folders in my Dropbox, but every time I do they reappear shortly after I delete them. Shortly as in, I don't have time to go to the trash folder on my computer or the deleted files section on the Dropbox website to click and delete them. I've followed all the suggested solutions and nothing works. I've checked the permissions; they are all labeled "Only Me." So I should be able to delete them...nope. I've checked to see if it's still syncing; it is not. Many of the folders are from a range of 1 - 7 months ago. I've deleted everything in the deleted files folder on the Dropbox site, but those folders are never in there to be able to delete because they restore immediately. Tried to clear the cache, but the directions to use the command in the Finder on Mac did not work. A cache folder never appeared after I used Command + Shift + . (period). Checked previous versions to see which device is restoring the file; it's my computer. I still tried deleting it from other computers as well as my own...nothing. I tried contacting support, but it just gives me a chat box that links me back to the SAME articles I referenced for the previous steps. OR directs me to this Community Forum in which people are having the same issues as me. According to a couple of replies from the Dropbox Team, they can't go in and delete files from their end either. It's absolutely ridiculous. This is a newspaper and we use these folders (organized by date) to keep track of files for upcoming editions. I cannot delete, at this point 3 folders (up from 1 persistent one that I've been trying to delete for 7 MONTHS). It's getting cluttered and confusing in the Dropbox and it's becoming more of a hassle than anything. You never know when a file or folder is actually going to delete or not. What is even the point of having an application that only works when you need to add something, but not delete? Might as well use the Google Drive at this point.42Views0likes1Comment
