Certain Dropbox files showing on my desktop cannot be opened from Windows Explorer. These files have a little brown overlay on the file icon. Dropbox support tells me this overlay is a One Drive icon and this may be causing a conflict with Dropbox. How can I resolve this (I don't use One Drive, although it is installed on my device).503Views0likes4CommentsDropbox seems to be corrupting files…..
I’m afraid we’re are migrating away from Dropbox, however whilst doing so we have noticed the following issue…. (Windows 11 – Latest Dropbox Version). Hence we though this may be useful. Most of our 2TB files are stored as “Online” only using Selective Sync. We then change the file status to “Available offline” so Dropbox copies(sync’s) the files back to the local disk from Dropbox.com. After some time (several hours) the Dropbox app confirms that all files are sync’d and the Dropbox task bar icon also indicates a complete/no activity status. The PC is rebooted and Dropbox is then uninstalled When trying to view via the PC the now sync’d Zip, Jpeg, Docx some of the files are corrupted/won’t open. As a test using Dropbox.com we manually download a problem file using MS Edge and the files will open correctly. It would seem that the Windows Dropbox client indicates it has finished its jobs even through it hasn’t fully completed syncing … We've also noticed that the corrupted file vs good file byte size are the same. We could duplicate this fault. Any thoughts ?6.2KViews0likes17CommentsShared folders missing only in File Explorer on Windows, why?
I am struggling to see shared files on my PC at work. They show up on dropbox.com, my phone and mac at home. I have double checked the file names to be sure there are no "disallowed" characters. I have shared the folder and I have reshared each individual file. When I opened one of the files on my PC it said the file was last edited by the owner 423 years ago. We checked time and date on her mac and my PC to be sure that was not the issue. NOPE, those were fine too. This is the first issue I have had with sharing since we started using dropbox in 2008. Hoping someone might be able to talk me through this.109Views0likes2CommentsWhy is there picture rotation when importing files into Microsoft Photo Editor from Dropbox?
I shared a link to my dropbox for a file with photos. The person I shared it to opened the file in Microsoft Photo Editor, All the pictures were rotated 90 degrees from their orientation in dropbox. Is there something I can do to make sure this does not happen?66Views0likes1CommentXmind always a conflict copy
Hello, I use Xmind. I use Dropbox to save my Xmind files so that I can work on them in both my Windows 11 desktop and my iPad Pro. When I save an Xmind file from my Windows 11 desktop, it appears as a conflict copy. I work on the files alone -- there is no collaboration; therefore, I am confused as to why I continually get conflicted copies. Likely the solution to this is something simple that I am missing. Regardless, I am looking to you all to help me to stop these conflicted copies from happening. Thanks much! DaveSolved81Views0likes5CommentsDesktop app saying "Reconnecting to the internet. This may take a moment" on Windows 10
A few days ago Dropbox Desktop (Basic plan) stopped synchronizing with the cloud: neither files that I update in my computer are uploaded nor files that other upload into the share folders. The message that appears is "Reconnecting to the internet. This may take a moment". Nothing has changed in the PC, no updates, and the network works well except for this. There are other, older posts with similar issues, but I have not seen a solution so far. They mention a problem with the firewall, which I check and does not seem to be my case. Any advice on how to address this? OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro, Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045 Dropbox version 211.4.6008Solved712Views0likes8CommentsSyncing doesn't start automatically on Windows

I have been working to resolve issues regarding icon overlays. After reading a lot of posts on this forum, I figured out how to edit my registry and move Dropbox overlays to the top of the list, giving them priority. This worked - with one odd exception. The icon for mixed state files won't display no matter what I do. According to this link, that should be DropboxExt09. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Shell_Icon_Overlay_Identifiers) I realize this is a minor issue. But having spent a lot of time on the general issue, I am hoping someone can help me fix this one quirk. A few days ago, I logged out of Dropbox on my computer, and now I can't open the application anymore. There's no icon in the system tray, and clicking on the Dropbox application on my computer does nothing. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but it still doesn't work. My computer is running Windows 11.Solved308Views0likes4Comments
