dropbox plus
17 TopicsLogged into my account and all my files are missing
I've had a drop box subscription for a few years and at renewal, December 1st, 2022, I upgraded to DropBox Plus. Last week I had a blue-screen issue on my Desktop and took it to a repairman. He saved, documents, then (I suppose) cleared the hard drive, and then he reloaded Windows Home 10. When I got my computer back, I noticed I was missing programs - Reaper and Bluebeam. I was annoyed but not too concerned because I had purchase receipts and licenses stored in Dropbox. Then I noticed that Drop Box desktop short-cut was missing. I tried to log-in to DropBox but couldn't remember my password, so the DropBox Chat agent or bot sent me a password reset link. I used that to open DropBox, but all my files are missing. I paid a full year subscription in advance expecting secure cloud storage, but all my stored documents are gone ... very important documents for which there are no or very limited hard copies. Does anyone know how I can recover my old account? Because it looks like my password reset started a new account.4.8KViews0likes80CommentsA Photographers question on Ai Image Analysis & Ai Data Collection,- Concent, Rights & Implicaions
As a photographer is use Dropbox to transmit, store and handle my files. lately when running a search for the word "FIRE", the search function returned multiple pictures from my archive with flames in them. Question 1: has my Photography Archive been subject to Ai image analysis? (which it obviously has been...) - what kind? - by what tools? and most importantly, where did i concent to any of it? (yes i read the 'Legal' page thoroughly) disclaimer: as an event photographer i am involved in all kinds of Private, Open & Deeply personal moments from peoples lives, i have an Etheic Moral and Legal duty to protect my clients, partners, models, childrens & friends privacy, dignity and basic right not to have their likeness and very life be used to feed some data set somewhere withiout their knowlege and concent. i use Generative Ai tools as part of my personal and professional creative research, i see the potential, but am also aware of the possible implications. Question 2: has my Phototography Archive (my body of work) been compromised, sold, copied or in any other way transfered to any third party without my concent? i think you get where im going with this.... am i doomed to have my stuff be fed to the Ai data machine by simply having it on the internet? i am only asking because i am already extremely doubtfull of my future as an Artist and Creative Professional. i love Dropbox a lot and use it all the time and recommend it to everyone, i really hope i don't soon grow to regret it... would love to hear your thoughts. ~T187.Solved2.7KViews1like4CommentsAccount Deleted Without Valid Reason
When I try to login, it goes to a create new account page. The account I’m trying to log in to was a paid account and had many files for many years. I’ve been back and forth with Dropbox support and it sounds like they believe my account was closed due to inactivity- however I have proof I signed in within a year, and I also received no email warnings. So that answer doesn’t add up. The only other thing I can think of is my account had been linked to a business group a few years ago when I helped with a special project. I was partitioned to only see certain folders of theirs and I had my own personal account still. I could not detach my account after the project so it remained connected but I had my own account. I mentioned this in support but they did not say this was a contributing factor, but something from that business acct is the only thing that makes sense. Can someone help me get my account reactivated and get my files?410Views0likes1CommentLock/unlock the safe with fingerprint on Chrome
Good morning I'm used to Dashlane and am considering switching to DropBox's Plus plan to combine additional storage and the password manager. I don't think so, but I ask, is it possible to lock/unlock the safe with your fingerprint on Chrome? Having a Macbook would be very convenient and safe.Solved604Views0likes3CommentsHow can I be removed from the Business team I accidentally joined?

Our company has a Hellofax Account for faxing. I believe Dropbox bought Hellofax a few months back. A few weeks ago, I created a dropbox account. Because I used the same email address for the dropbox account as we use on the Hellofax account, it tied these 2 accounts together. Because of that, it all of the sudden started requiring an access code everytime on of our emnployees logged into the account to send a fax. This was a bit of a pain and I liked how it was set-up before with Hellofax, where our employees were able to log-in without an access code. To keep that from happning, I figured I would delete the Dropbox account I made. So I logged into drop box(not hellofax) and deleted my account. This deleted our ENTIRE FAX account too!! Now, we have no access to any of the incoming faxes or the documents we faxed out. This is a huge issue for our company. I'm trying to find a way to get it fixed. It really seems like this is an oversight on dropbox's part. I never intended to link the dropbox account with our hellofax account, and definitely didn't intend to delete our faxes. PLEASE HELP BEFORE I GET FIRED!!755Views0likes3CommentsMy account was deleted after being removed from Business team
A couple weeks ago someone from another company invited me to their Dropbox Business Team. I clicked on the link, but I didn't realize it was going to add me to their group so I contacted Dropbox about this and was told to have the Team Admin follow steps to change my account to a basic account. I sent the Team Admin (person from another company) the instructions and I got an email saying my account was deleted. I am not able to log into my account at all now. I thought this would keep my account but switch it from a Dropbox Business Account to a basic account. Is there a way to get my basic account back? I had a Dropbox Plus account that I was paying for and has a lot of files on it too. [Post restored by moderator]Solved5.9KViews0likes18CommentsPrivacy on employers PC
I have "Dropbox Plus" for my private file storage needs, and on the PC provided to me by my employer, I have installed the Dropbox desktop app to have easy access also to my private files. At work, we have a Microsoft 365, not sure which service, but probably one of the Enterprise ones, or similar. Via that MS 365 account, I assume the employer's IT-manager/Admin has more or less free access to the PC I have from them. So, how do I know whether the IT-manager/Admin has free access also to my private Dropbox via the installed desktop app? It's not like I want to hide something, I just don't see the point of the IT-manager having access to all my private documents. For now, I have chosen to not save/download the files in the Dropbox account locally on this PC, but I'm not sure that makes a difference. Also, would it matter in this regard if I upgrade to Dropbox professional? Naturally, one could argue that I shouldn't use a work-PC to access private material, but the employer does not mind, and there are many practical benefits of doing so, so it's more a matter of whether it is something I want to do. I also understand already(!) that I could access my private Dropbox account via browser, which would eliminate/reduce the security issue, but that is not the set-up I would prefer. I struggle with the web interface, and would end up having to reconsider the whole Dropbox arrangement. Thanks in advance.834Views0likes1Comment
